i think it would be a great idea if the police started quizzing drivers at the side of the road.
let’s say someone gets stopped for speeding, jumping a red light, or failing to indicate.
if the police asked them several highway code questions, and they failed to answer them all correctly, then they get an immediate driving ban for a week. if they get 50% correct then they get a ticket for the offence for which they were stopped, but if they get a 100% pass then they get let off with a warning.
this system would get people re learning the highway code, and make the roads safer. getting pulled over would also be more fun.
