I’ve got an interview in a few weeks and I have never had an interview in my life so not really sure what I need to know and say. If anyone can give me some advice that would be great:-) thanks
What type of job? Dress Smart casual, if it’s driving. Suit and boot if office based. Have you a CV of what you have done? Be punctual. Don’t slouch, listen to what they ask you before answering. Be polite, don’t shrug your shoulders etc… Good luck.

+1 Also find out as much as you can about the company you have the interview with, they may ask what you know about them, it also allows you to tailor your answers to what they would like to hear.
Good luck!
Do your research beforehand, and try to relax. Be friendly, attentive, smiley and adopt a good open posture - sit up straight, hands in your lap, make plenty of eye contact with everyone involved etc. Don’t get hung up on the stuff you don’t have or don’t know, make the best of what you do have and know, and impress upon them your willingness to learn. Just leave the best possible impression you can on them. Good luck!
Remember it’s a two-way thing - don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Yeah, what ^They^ said!
No ■■■■■■■ or picking yer nose either. Relax and be confident, don’t rely on one word answers or just say nothing. Sell yourself and good luck.
Dont go to the pub first hic

Really sound advice!
When i go to interviews i try to be relaxed and come across easy going, if they have a laugh and a bit of banter join in, you need to make them like you and be comfortable with you, make sure you dont come across as miliant, they want people who they can give a job to and will get it done as required without agruing.
You also need to ask them questions, the job needs to be right for you, theres no point in them taking you on if you leave after 3 weeks because your not up the road all week etc. After i’d been to the interview for my current job they called me up that afternoon and said theres a job for me if i want it but insisted i wasnt to decide at the time and to call back in a few days.

This is a good idea and it’s easy to do now with google and all that.
yeah, always have some stuff to ask them at the end - don’t sit there and go “errrr…no” and then think of something later. If something isn’t covered in the interview - be it hours, money, holidays, type of work etc - then bring it up. Remember, that they’ve asked YOU to see them so they must’ve seen something in your CV or initial approach that they liked. Try to build on that, and get a rapport. Be polite, and have a laugh if it’s that sort of interview - it’ll break the ice on both sides and leave a good impression. You need to leave there with them going “He was a good lad” and sticking in their memory.

I’m assuming its for a driving job; if so, make absolutely sure you take BOTH parts of your driving licence with you. As a former recruitment consultant and TM, I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve told prospective drivers to do that, only to have them shuffle their feet and look embarrassed when I asked them at interview.
What others have said above, with the following.Make sure your reference contacts on your CV are up to date; again if its for a driving job it’s never a bad idea to go equipped for an assessment drive, so keep hi-viz and safety footwear in the car and take your digicard as well. First impressions DO count so make them positive.
Good luck.
An interview is a 2 way thing, you need to “interview” them -ask questions & make sure you want to work for them.
Google the firm & get some info on the firm, its nice to say comments like “hasn’t the firm grown well since you’re Father started it 50 years ago”
