Yasmin, our new home just needs a bit of TLC and a right good servicing and shell come up as a good one. Had a look on the net and got more or less her full history.

Its a 1978, 33 year old Bristol VR. A old Gardener in it and runs as sweet as a nut

did i read that correctly?

you are going to live on the bus?

:open_mouth:

Dont forget to paint it like a rainbow and become a new age traveller, how expensive will you insurance be?
I would have thought a single decker would have been a better idea though.

Why would he want a bungalow?

This bus ran regularly from Hull Bus Station to the Pierhead when the BR ferry took you over the river Humber before the Humber Bridge.

The 4.0 metre height limit in Europe may be a bit of a problem

I still think you’re completely mad but I wish you the best of luck with it all Phil and hope you will keep us updated on here with photos of the conversion and the many tales that will no doubt come of it…

Paul

Fantastic mate, I wish I could do the same myself and wish you all the best with the project. Most of the people who criticise you will be unimaginative morons who live in bland Lego boxes, there should be more like you!

Are you going to keep it road-legal or is it going to be static?

I’m wondering where you bought it and how much you paid for it? PM me if you would rather not say on the forum.

A contact of mine tells me he paid just under £2k for it from Ireland’s in Hull.

Well, there you go, 2k is three months rent on a crappy one-bedroomed new-build flat. What’s not to like?

“Get on board! Get on board!
Come and join the Double Deckers.
Take a ticket for a journey,
On our double decker London bus.”

Anyone else remember that?

LOL

Good for you, I am seriously thinking of doing the same thing myself. It makes more sense than plunging myself into a lifetime of slavery to buy a two-up-two down shoebox.

I am thinking that is an AEC Regent?

Certainly an AEC, and certainly Hull Bus Station.

I remember a bloke near me converting an old coach to go touring Europe. I thought he was mad then, now I am jealous of him.

Ooh, I was bang on the money, it’s a Mk III AEC Regent.

I used to go to school on one, looked like this.

I’m off to hull to collect my bus giddy or what?

If you see me give a flash if you see me and sorry about the 45 mph top speed :open_mouth:

Lol thats mental, perharps you could make a project thread? Where did you get you insurance from, is it easy enough to sort out?

OK, don’t get too excited about picking up the keys, it probably won’t have any!

I drove this one, an ex- London Transport M Class on a roadshow (it had been re-registered as an HGV so I could drive it on my HGV licence) . It had a green button to start it and a red button to stop it.

That used to do 45mph maximum too, dropping to about 15mph on the slightest incline, I spent a lot of time on the motorway ■■■■■■■■ myself and the first time I had to go up an actual hill, the gearbox exploded and had to be replaced.

Increadable. Just drive the bus ■■■■ driving the lorries.

Good Luck Marlow.
