just thought i’d show you what the temperature is like in august in seville
as you can see thats at 20.21 in the evening and i wasn’t sat in direct sunlight, that was the heat!!!
also whilst i was waiting to load at the coca cola factory i saw this “old faithful” still working its socks off in the heat at maximum weights
39c last week in Holland.
Years ago driving Greece,Italy and Spain the temperature didn’t worry me too much, but nowadays,as I’m getting older,I find it almost unbearable at night and can’t get a decent night’s sleep.
I’m going to have to get one of those cab top coolers!
i wouldn’t normally mind but i’d loaded by 12 midday so was trying to sleep while taking 9hrs off, but i’m not a small lad and it was bloody hot in the afternoon
Think the Spanish call the seville area “The fying pan”.
I saw the hottest day ever for me in Europe once when in Seville, 49% on the truck gauge while going over the large bridge, and that was about 6 at night. I don’t mind the hot weather, but that was just too much, and to make matters worse my aircon had packed up and it was too hot to have the windows open
seville is def the hottest place in spain in the summer, when the wind blows its like an industrial hair dryer

It def gets warm down there, seem to remember the locals telling me that Ecija was reputedly the hottest spot in Spain, something to do with terrain & weather fronts as I recall, I know I was loading beetroot in the fields near there 1 year & the old Scanny outside temp guage was reading 51c (although how accurate it was I don’t know), no shade & the old boys were loading by hand in the fields, palletising as they loaded in the trailer. We also used to load sweetcorn all over Andalucia but the real memories are of the “hole in the wall” near Jerez, the actual village was called El Portal, Any ex John Davies, McCann or PJK lad will know it, getting trollied in the restaurant in the village near the level crossing then back to the farm to sleep, never mind windows, we slept there with the doors wide open in july & august, listening to the cicadas sing all night & lying in a pool of sweat, unless you went to bed with the air con running then woke up with mild hypothermia lol
our neighbours have a house near cordoba and they come down to the coast in the summer because its cooler
last summer at the end of august cordoba down to carmona had over 50 every day for a whole week

There you go then Ecija’s just down from Cordoba isn’t it. We used to load Palma Del Rio & Posadas too, lets just say the whole area is a tad on the hot side
nice restaurant in palma del rio, if you park outside the bloke from the restaurant asks what time leaving in the morning and gives the door a knock just to make sure you’re awake!! regardless of the time!!
