It's been a while.....New pics added

newmercman:
This was my morning view in Utah, just south of Salt Lake City,

Great pics there NMM,keep them coming please.

The first thing I noticed with this pic was the amount of SPACE to move around in and then I noticed how clean it is as well!!!

Kind of reminds me of Watford Gap!!! :open_mouth: :open_mouth: …NOT!!

cracking pictures mark, love the sunset photo, keep them coming (it makes me feel like emigrating!!)

Nice to see you take notice of californias speed limits :sunglasses: .

Here’s the last batch for a while, I’ll get some more up when I head out somewhere different to California

Poor old Duck, he’s got frostbite

Freezing fog for 500kms

It leaves a film over everything, even the windscreen, which is fun :open_mouth:

A nice early morning shot, I’m not often vertical at this time of day, so make the most of it

Health and safety gone mental :unamused: No HiViz or boots needed though

Carryfast’s Canadian relative drives this POS :unamused:

Alberta temps

Butte Montana, stopped for a coffee break

Not much has changed in idaho, roads are still bad

Nevada is so much better :sunglasses:

This is what a proper working truck looks like at the end of a trip :open_mouth:

Although I much prefer it when it looks like this :sunglasses: In Las Vegas now so off with the winter front…for a few days at least :sunglasses:

That’s all folks

Great pictures newmercman thanks for posting them

Tremendous photos there Mark, looks as if you have been adding some chrome to the truck. Temp dropped in Florida last night, had to put a sweat shirt on might need a bobble cap tonight. Some of the guys in work (southern) were dressed like lumberjacks ffs, this isn’t cold, where you live its cold. I’ll let you know if I have to dig my donkey jacket out lol.
Regards Paul

cracking pics mark nice motor but id much prefer a volvo condo

Cracking pics  :sunglasses:

Excellent pictures a credit to you newmercman well done.
Have done that journey by car from LA to Las Vegas on Highway 15 quite a few times during the 1990s
What i remember vividly is the length of the freight trains that you could see running parallel with the road between LA and Barstow along with the massive freight yard at Barstow.

Keep those pictures coming
Regards Paul

I thought the duck was usually a Mack thing … thats a peterbilt.

One day, when my mortgage has gone and the kid has shipped out i’m gonna do that for a year. Take the Mrs with me and just see the states. ONE DAY! :sunglasses:

The Mack symbol is a dog, hence the nickname bulldog, quite appropriate too, woof woof  The chrome duck on my truck is a not truck specific, it’s just a poseur thing :sunglasses:

Carl, glad you like the pics, but please do not sour this thread with talk of Volvos, the last two motors I had before I came here were FHs, a 16-610 and a 12-500, I didn’t come all this way to repeat the exercise, they’re nice enough trucks, but not in the same league as a Pete, they’re for truck drivers, the Volvo is for steering wheel attendants

Paul, no new chrome, except for my stack tips, I now have turn outs instead of mitre cuts.

Ah right … I was thinking of the RS700l in convoy. Which of course has the duck.

Carl, glad you like the pics, but please do not sour this thread with talk of Volvos,

lol
a question for ya mate are most of the gearbox,s on motors like your pete syncro or non syncro mesh

It’s all non synchro over here, my Pete has an 18spd RoadRanger, a lot of the big fleets run autoshift boxes, but they’re nowhere near as good as A/S tronic or I shift, although I shift is available here now, but only behind the Volvo engine, strangely enough most Volvo’s are fitted with a ■■■■■■■■ so they then have the Eaton Fuller autoshift.

To be completely honest I rate the Volvo, the VNL780 is my favourite, I’m no fan of the VT880, that tries to be a classic looking truck, yet it fails miserably, for me the old school Pete like mine is the best truck on the road, they just ooze character, but if I couldn’t have one of those, I wouldn’t mess around with any of the pretenders, I’d go to the opposite end of the scale and have a VNL780 with a D16 and I shift
