Italian trucks

Any body know what the small diagonal White or Red stripes you see on the front of some italian wagons is for?

white - common carrier, haulage company
red - private carrier, own goods carrier

Single stripe - rigid.
Two stripes - with a trailer.
In white at least.

This was true when I drove an Italian truck. ^^

Red is ‘own account’ (= conto proprio)

White is ‘hire and reward’ (= conto terzi)

Here’s me complete with white stripes taking a well-earned 45 sometime in 1984/5
The Italian front registration plate is very small, but I remember that this was TO 10064 Z

Cheers chaps that’s quenched my curiosity.

Nice renault

Hi 460MC,

Actually, you’re not wrong there mate, cos it was a good solidly built truck.

My Italian gaffer imported that 360hp V8 ex-heavy haulage tractor from France and put it on Italian plates.
There weren’t many people driving around with 360hp in those days.

Happy days, but sadly long gone. :frowning:
