goshow, i think you have been spoiled…there are a lot of companies out there now who use a 24/7 attitude to maximise the profits, and therefore upsets drivers when they lose their vehicle for a night shift, or day shift when on weekly rest, especially when its during the week. I went part time for my old company, and was always using vehicles that were parked for the drivers weekly rest, which was of course during the week, some of them were very clean, and some were never touched, and i left them as i found them. Did see one agency bod connect a trailer…all the way ( we only ran fridges ) then lay on his back along the catwalk. to connect the airlines, came off smothers in grease, then proceeded to enter the cab, i was seconds late to stop him…but had a word, and told him to clean it off somehow, and not to wear his big coat high viz in the cab…also advised him how to couple up a fridge trailer in two shunts…later on i got my allocated unit and found it stank to high heaven, so left the driver a nice polite note about personal hygiene, and allowing tramps to sleep on his 20 year old bedding…i was disciplned and eventually sacked for telling him the truth, apparently the best option was to report it to the tm…who did say afterwards What am i supposed to do about a driver with body hygiene
beggars belief, but at the end of the day, a lot of office staff couldnt give a ■■■■, so long as the work gets done.

I actually think this obsession with ones own designated vehicle my be a medical condition, it would need further investigation, but it does appear to bring out some irrational beliefs and thus behaviour in some.
Spoken like a true phallus!
An obsession with keeping where you live and work clean and not wanting some manky scumbag from an agency stinking it out is irrational?
Safe to say, you’re a meaty flap.

I’ve got nothing against agency drivers though, i was one for a short time a few years back.So assuming that you didn’t do the stuff you’re worried about when you were on agency why do you think that this guy is going to? Could it be because you’ve got FSCC, the fulltimer superiority cockend complex?
Far from it.
At the place I work we ALL have designated trucks, so there’d be no need for any of the other employees to drive “my” truck. The reason I mentioned he was an agency worker is purely because; he was an agency worker. I’d have probably felt the same no matter who was taking it out. However, I know how the other employees keep their trucks and they’re all of the same thinking as me. We keep a tidy ship. It was purely the sight of a totally unknown person who is about to drive a wagon which I keep in a condition as though I’d bought it. I was also in fear that he hadn’t brought his slippers to drive in and he wouldn’t leave his boots on the top step before planting his feet on my pristine carpets (that I bought with my own cash).
Anyway, I returned to the truck this morning to find the seat had been moved in every angle possible. Which is fair enough, you’ve got to be comfy when driving. The fuel tank was empty, ad-blu down to 1/4. The two holders i have on the dash, for phone and sat-nav, were now laid on my bed. My duvet was showing clear signs of being laid on. I was down three cans of coke from my fridge. My work gloves had vanished. My trailer reg plate and palm couplings were missing, as was a box of three new tacho papers that were in my personal bag in one of the overhead lockers.
I don’t think my gaffer will be asking for him to come back again.

You’re probably on the money there.
I’m usually out from Monday till Friday night though so pretty lucky that nobody can get near it.

Usual agency cockend who hates the fact proper drivers get trusted with decent kit and keep it that way.
I feel your pain, mate.

Leave some sweets lying around covered in a liberal dusting of laxative powder.
Love the way all the trampers are doing the disclaimer thing, ie…putting ‘‘my motor’’ in inverted commas, and making sure they also refer to it as the ‘‘firm’s motor’’
This is because so many times on this subject, on this forum, the agency men who have neither empathy, respect or common good manners (NOT referring to all agency men btw, as many display all these qualities) use this (firm’s motor…not yours) as an excuse, or reason to act like ■■■■ pigs in a tramper’s ‘‘own’’ motor (see, I’m doing it now ) which is essentially his home.
.
If that offends, annoys, or does not make any difference to the agency man,… like it or not it is true it IS his home while away.
Ok, fair enough if it is collectexd as a ■■■■ heap, return it as a ■■■■ heap, some trampers are dirty unwashed bastds, but contrary to popular belief, MOST of us are NOT.
We all have to work together as drivers, full time and agency, so is it really TOO much to ask (or even expect) a motor to be left in the same condition and level of tidiness and cleanliness as it was when collected.
As for me, if I happen to use another driver’s/firm’s motor, I tend to try and make a visible point that I have cleaned it,… but that is just me.
‘‘My’’ ( ) motor broke down last week, and I brought a courtesy/hire motor back, which was clean…, but it went back even cleaner.
This has always been my dread, I worked on Tesco and had my assigned tractor M28TBH from new, I kept it spotless inside and out, others, especially agency drivers seemed to find it funny to make a mess when they used it at night. One morning as I arrived an agency driver was leaving and grinned at me, said ‘Sorry Mr Perfection’ and walked off, the idiot had emptied the entire contents of the fire extinguisher inside the cab, the prank backfired and they gave me a whole shift to clean the cab out, management knew how I kept the vehicle.
The weekend before last I was taken into hospital and stayed there for 2 nights, I was parked outside my house with a load on the truck and actually feared some dirty git (we have a few) would be dropped off at the house and then use my truck for the week, I have well over $1,000 in personal stuff in the truck and would take a couple of hours to empty. As things happened they sent a guy in another truck, he dropped mine and took the load with his own.
Popped in to the yard today. I’ve had a week off, so called in to put my stuff back in the wagon before work at 5am tomorrow.
The truck has only been used for 4 days as it was in Volvo all day on Monday having it’s 1st MOT.
4 days work and it’s just taken me 3 hours to clean inside and out, 3 F’in hours FFS.
I genuinely don’t think I could have got it as dirty as that if I’d tried. I can only assume that whoever has been in it has not shown it any respect (or the company, or me) whatsoever. Yes, it’s an industrial vehicle but it’s still 100 grand, or more, belonging to someone.
Maybe whoever drove it last found it in a state so they decided to leave it in one. I just couldn’t do it to someone else’s truck, no matter who’s it was. Like above post mentions, I always take something back better than I find it.

yup I know someone who did just that and also topped a bottle o pop of with a real strong laxative ,we found out pretty fast who was stealing food etc out o the cabs but unbelievably it took another “round” o laxatives to stop him .

Mate… you need to book time for it at the very least, or they will just do the same next time.
What I did once when a similar fate happened to ‘‘my’’ truck, was go in, as you did the night before to put my kit back in.
However when I found out what a ■■■■ mess had been left for me, I went in next morning, usual time, parked ourside the Transport office and started to clean it out.
When the guvnor came in and asked why I had not left yet, I politely told him that I refused to leave for a week away in the disgusting state it had been left for me, and that I would set off as soon as I got it back to the way I left it.
A few umms and ahhs and a bit of muttering and I was left to it.
If it had been smoked in I reckon I would have talked myself out of a job after going ape ■■■■, but probably not as the law would have been on my side.
It has never happened since for the last 6 years or so.
draw your own conclusions as to why, and if my attitude offends some delicate less vocal souls on here…I could not give a ■■■■, seriously.

I certainly will be doing mate. I was going to send our TM a text this afternoon but decided against it. There was nothing to be gained by rattling his cage on a Sunday afternoon. He can check the CCTV if he needs to confirm what time I started / finished it.
The last thing I want is for anyone to be in for a 80llocking, I’d just like to get things back in a similar state to that in which I left them.
Rob Roy,
Think I may of been cast in same mold as you? We seem to share the same outlook on such maters?
I never started before 8 am after I’ve been on holiday or whatever, simply because of such things as that!!
I was taught to be firm but be polite and stand your ground for things you believe in, BUT be prepare to apologize off in the rong!!! Never did me any harm.

Tbh bud I would not give a flying one if the dirty ill mannered inconsiderate ■■■■ who messed ‘‘my’’ cab up got a bollocking.
It would maybe make him a bit more considerate next time.
Although on second thoughts you can not educate naturally thick ■■■■ s, however hard you try.

Look, I aint trying to come across as the ‘Big man hero’ here or anything, it is just, as you also know, …If you allow yourself to be taken for a ■■■■, they just feed it to you even more, and on an habitual basis.
You ARE allowed to speak up for yourself, and many do not accept that fact.
Like you say as long as it is done in a respectful, polite professional manner (with no effin and jeffin ) they DO treat you with more respect, and it has always worked for me in the jobs I have worked in (…not THAT many considering the number of years in the job.btw)
We are SUPPOSED to be pro.s after all, and that is the way it should be, a mutual two way thing,.and as you say admitting when you are in the wrong also,…again mutually.
