It only takes a few minutes...!

I lost count at the amount of idiot car drivers I see on the road today looking through a hole they had scraped on their screen, or the windscreen is all misted up and if I can hardly see them through it they definitely can’t see out!!
A can of de-icer is a £1.00 and a few mins to scrape your side windows so you can actually see where you are going.
Rant over.

saw a woman side swipe a taxi because she had only scrapped a 2inch patch on windscreen and on drivers side window :open_mouth:

Gues it’s that time of year again. :imp:

Glad I got heated front and rear windows on my car, while the engines running, I can scrap the side windows. By then, they’re all clear. :sunglasses:

Snap!
Must be a trusty Ford?
Can’t beat heated screen this time of year :sunglasses:

It’s a British thing they don’t seem to be able to get their heads around letting the thing idle for a while with the heater going to de frost the windows just like the question of freezing in trucks without night heaters topic. :open_mouth: :unamused:

I look upon it as a chance to get rid of my troublesome Renault in an unfortunate “accident”

‘Trusty’ up to now.

You do know what happends to diesel fords anywhere beyond 70-80,000 miles don’t you?? :frowning:

What’s that? My Mondeo diesel has done 162,000

The old ones the escorts and early mondeos with the 1.8 diesels used to be prone to snapping cam belts and doing heads.

Glad I’ve got a 1.8 petrol then!

I got a Moggie 1000. The heater is as good as a handbrake on a canoe.

Don’t even ask him. The explanation could get as lengthy as Chinas contribution to the world wide global crisis, or even down to axle configuration  I always pretend i never seen them !!!

Problem.

  1. freezing cold night out with a truck with no night heater.

  2. iced up windows on a car that’s been left outside during a freezing cold frosty night.

Solution.Idle engine with heater on.Which will not only keep the interior of the truck with no night heater warm.It will also defrost the windows of the car etc without bothering with a scraper and the fact that the engine has been warmed up will stop them re freezing and/or misting up or freezing on the inside a mile down the road. :bulb: :smiling_imp:

You’re second guessing everyone. No one asked for a solution. They asked

  1. have you, did you
  2. How come they do?

Couple of problems with that though, firstly, if parked with other trucks i wont run the engine as i believe its rude and dont like it if someone else runs theirs, secondly, i wouldnt have a job for much longer if i ran the engine all night.

Its not a long term solution running the engine for long periods while stationary either as it chokes them up.

If I’ve read it right ‘they asked’

  1. How does/did anyone manage without a night heater.

  2. Why do they drive down the road with frozen up windows so they can’t see where they’re going instead of spending some extra time with a scraper and a can of de icer.

To which the relevant answer to 1) is leave the engine idling with the heater on and 2) why bother with the scraper and de icer at all when leaving the thing idling for a while with the heater on will defrost all the windows and the engine needs to be warmed up and the defrost working to keep the windows from freezing up again a mile down the road anyway. :bulb:

Its better for the engine if you dont leave it idling, better for it to start working straight away.
