Just a quick note of encouragement to all you wannabe and newly qualified drivers.
After 34 years of retail drudgery, I decided to change my life and retrain as a driver. The theory parts were passed first attempt, as was class 2. At this point I fired off some speculative letters to companies I WANTED to work for. Got invited to go for a ‘chat’ with a large regional haulier, and got a job offer there and then. Job was ok, but not the money I was looking for. I then take and pass class 1 (23 May), and get a call from another quality local general haulage firm on June 12, asking if I was still looking for work?
Cut a long story short, after another ‘chat’, another job offer whilst I’m there.
Start 11 Aug as an employed driver. There are jobs out there. Just have faith and self belief.
