May be it is good .Same good or bad EU rules but France introduce real test at CPC.In Uk so much drivers just attendant to class room.But there need learn and pass test.May be need not just hate EU rules but hate DVSA.
Here in France the equivalent of the DCPC is called the FIMO, a month long course that covers everything, including ADR packages, but depending on when he passed his UK licence, he will be probably only have to do the 5 day refresher course, called the FCO, lots of transport companies here do it in-house. This is where his knowledge of the language will be important.

It is nothing like the UK version, so it wont be a case of doing a first aid course 5 times, or falling asleep at the back of the classroom due to boredom and getting the hours just because he’s attended. In France there is a test at the end of the course. fail and you don’t get it, so no job.

If your last sentence is correct then I can feel another load of Paris riots coming along soon …

Do Germany gave a similar scheme? Could imagine them making it like their driving tests except you have to pass at 100%.

Would be good for new passes of they had something like this in the UK as can imagine a lot of drivers giving up like with the original CPC. Not good for haulage companies or road safety.

Some of you should be careful what you wish for concerning ‘‘Pass only’’ DCPCs :bulb:

I know a lot of drivers who are ‘proper’ drivers but are not academically inclined, I also know of a lot of educated guys with licences, who will never be ‘‘drivers’’ in real terms for as long as they have that proverbial hole.

Qualifications do not always mean actual competence in a subject, in many cases it depends on how good memory is only, in an examination scenario.
Let’s be blunt there are many drivers who could not even pass an 11+ exam, let alone a DCPC exam, especially with all the intricate ■■■■■■■■ of driver’s hours alone.
I reckon I for one, who am on a ‘What I only need to know’’ basis (through choice) on all that crap would have difficulty tbh.

The DCPC is bollox and is nothing more than a way to raise revenue (upload fee)is bollox too, 35hrs of your life wasted being told what you already knew or stuff that you don’t need to know (not specific to your actual job that you do) it should be about changes to the drivers hours rules, and other related laws and 7hrs max not 35 hrs of pish take
NNoyt only this but it is also an EUSSR directive anything that comes from those unelected un democratic diktat’s in Brussels, is certainly not worth the paper it’s printed on

The revenue raising/industry creating theory is proven, given that you have to go through the same 40+ hours crap (or whatever tf it is) all over again 5 yrs later, instead of a 1 hour refresher which would be sufficient imo.
