It can happen after all

As a few of you may know from previous posts ive not long passed my class 1 and had no luck getting a start… But… After many rejections and doors closing with the NO EXPERIENCE answers ive finaly made headway. All the big company’s where a big no no so o aimed a little lower and found a small outfit of just 2 Trucks advertising for a driver gave him a ring explained my situation and same old “looking for experience” answer BUT I remember what it was like starting out he said and I may be able to help, anyway after a week or so of waiting true to his word he rang me back seeing if I fancied a small run out with him, of course I said yes.
So off I went on a saturday ready for an artic gig smiling my head off it was a only a small run with a container from liverpool to deeside and back with a few reverses thrown in. But nice an laid back run no rushing and enjoyable drive along with plenty of knowledge from an experienced driver thrown in all went well and I was chuffed. Since had a call asking if I fancy some work next week double manning to kent  slow progress
but its a start.
Sorry for the long post but just wanted to let those newbies out there fast loosing heart like I was to keep pushing and summit will turn up and a little abvice would be to try the smaller outffits they seem to hqve a heart and wil let you have a go.
If this thread doesn’t bore the pants off people to much il update after next week with pics

You’ve landed on your feet mate, its definitly the best thing going out with someone for abit, will make your life so much easier.Well done.

Nice one, glad someone gave you a chance, just gotta grab it with both hands, take your time and if in doubt, ask. I was in your shoes 2 years ago and was getting really frustrated, had to wait 3 months to be let loose in an artic and haven’t looked back since. Good luck

Well done! Good luck.

well done…and thats the best way to it, someone to give you a few pointers…IF they are needed.
( I assume that you are getting paid for the runs?)

I thought i chuck in my 10p worth in.

As you all know i was a PCSO and a Copper. I worked for the police for 6 years and in those 6 years i got a Cat C in Oct 2011 so i could use if the PC role didn’t work out. Cut a long story short the PC role didn’t work out, and i left, and was out looking for a job, this was on September 5th. Within 4 days of leaving i got a van drivers job driving all over the uk. This stops on the 5th but last Monday i went for a job interview for a class 2 job and start this Monday at 6am. I haven’t been near, or had a drive in a Class 2 since i passed in October 2011and i had to do a riving assessment which i passed

All i say is, if you want something so badly don’t give up in trying.

Whats doing my nut now is that i am now being asked to come in for interviews!!!

If anyone lives in Northampton, Welch are looking for drivers on Class 2 and if they contacted me for an interview shows they will take on new drivers

Well done. I’m in the same situation, after months of rejection, a local firm started giving me ad-hoc work on artics for the last couple of weeks, and now looking to start me full time soon…hopefully. Goes to show…never give up!
