It came off in me hand drive

Anybody been given the broken handle off the raise/lower valve by a banksman? What is it with some of these guys? Told him to expect a £200 bill for the valve if handle can’t be bought separately. He says, its a company motor, what has it got to do with you!? (its my own). This is in spite of a sign saying ‘no unauthorised use’ next to valve handle.
Anybody else have to put up with these jokers? You are reversing, they make you stop, the engine is running, reverse bleeper crowing away, and they can’t get under the trailer quick enough to dump the air. Anybody heard of somebody getting squished?

The title of this thread is just begging for it. I however will maintain my moral highground.

Can honestly say no one has ever handed me the raise/lower valve from my own trailer. Must be a first. Was he agency? Bet he was agency

I too shall keep my dirty mind in check for this one.

Think the correct etiquet when a helpfull chap hands you part of the trailer is to just say ‘what you done’ in a jovial cheery manner to ease the situation then just get them to confess in a little note on the paperwork.

Usually saying that it will be fixed at base as our place wouldnt want to upset a vip customer helps as well as any other BS one can come up with to get that written confession.

If the valves working right it should pop out at 5mpn ish to running position.

Ironically due to a poorly positioned pack of wet wipes I have just come off in my own hand.

Bit hasty with that title! I was not in position to have a go at banksman, due to all that VIP bollox. It is only now that I have given it a bit of thought, I was wondering who else had been given ‘the handle’.
Rang Fleetfactors, who to my surprise, stock them. So there must be a market for them. I have never known it happen. It is quite a thick bit of ribbed plastic. Guy obviously does not know his own strength. Back at customers, and friendly fitter sees me on my arse trying to find part number from the valve to get a new handle. Says he has one, and has it fitted in two minutes.
Still wondering about all this messing about with the suspension from third parties though. Any firms have a policy on it?

Don’t know about policy, but as far as I’m concerned, don’t ■■■■ around with someone else’s motor !

Did you report a near miss ?

Have emailed office telling them that their guys should not be adjusting trailer suspension or climbing under the thing, no reply yet. Not going to make a claim, as have sourced replacement handle. If valve needed changing too, then that would of changed matters. Surprised it has not happened before, or that it has not happened to anybody else on forum. Getting a larger sticker warning people off…just trying to think of the wording!

just trying to think of the wording!

DONT TOUCH THIS, KNOB.

Mmm. Yes. thank you :unamused: . I’ve already referenced this in the agency vs full timer thread. Also referenced I was joking playing on the fact so many blame agency. But Thankyou, I’ll write this down

Given the Mary white houses of agency have been winging at me despite a light hearted comment , I’m starting to see the benefits of joining the “club”

The guy who did it, did not have a pony tail…had a bit of a goatee if I recall correctly. However, Polish worker did have one, may of been a girl though.

wasnt handed a handle but one of my work mates got handed his ignition key in two bits at b&m in speke. they admitted that they broke it and are paying for a mercedes call out, the new ignition, the time the truck was off the road, the cancelled reload that had a financial penalty attached too it.

Sounds like a case of monkey see monkey do. Seen someone else do it before so had a go himself without realising you have to push the handle in first.

Quite right, should read at least :- DON’T TOUCH THIS, KNOB HEAD, PLEASE

Would you let him hook up your trailer, no you would not so you don’t let him touch your knob
