I don’t think any of my older desktop PC’s would qualify for the upgrade to Windows 11, I binned Windows 10 off them (because they wouldn’t update) for a more civilised better running Linux & Ubuntu OS on my older workstations

I stopped using windoze on all of my machines almost 10 years ago and moved everything to Ubuntu Linux. Best thing I ever did. Can’t wait until I can have it on my phone too.

I couldn’t agree more with you. I had a high spec windows 10 desktop for my music DAW recording/Video editing, It just wouldn’t update!!! It got to 65% updated then took a dump & reverted back to the prior update!!! citing drivers/software errors on music/video software I paid top dollar for, I bought SSD’s & installed Linux on all my desktops & they run like a dream with ne’er any trouble whatsoever. I still have one high spec windows 10 PC which I use for Simulation games & I’m hoping I don’t have the same trouble with that.

I run Cakewalk 9, Sibelius 3, Band in a Box 2016 using wine! The only issue is the notation font in cakewalk. Also use Audacity - it seems as good as anything else!
I do have a low spec PC running Win 7 but it spends more time installing updates than working. I don’t understand why people don’t use Linux morr - free, secure and simple

Get Ubuntu | Download | Ubuntu You can make a bootable USB thumb drive and try it before fully installing. There are various “flavours”, Mint and Kubuntu are also very popular. Lots of help and support around on t’interweb!

As gardun said yes very easy to use & Linux Mint is very much set out like Windows, If you’re using an older PC like I am It runs much better on the Linux OS than Windows, If you’re not up to downloading a bootable thumb drive then ebay sell the latest linux Mint 20.1 Ulyssa disc for a couple of quid.
