Some have no choice but to work for next to nowt = minimum wage, just like some drivers have no choice but to work for [zb] companies, its not always in the control of the driver to choose were or how much he works for.

Not sure if this is true as I’ve heard from the grapevine but our lot charges one of our big clients £500 for the truck and £60 a pallet. If anything is over hanging on the bottom its classed as double size even if its only by an inch. Mine is the longest on the fleet and can hold 23 pallets so worked out thats £500 for the truck then £1,380 for the pallets which comes to £1,880. Pretty sure they are also charged for weight as well because the actual weight and charge weight never match up.
One load of this stuff for this client means the whole truck and me is paid for so anything else on the wagon is pocket money.
What really ■■■■■■ me is that “transport”" is the only industry apart from power generation that could bring this country to its knees within 24 hours.
And still the folk who do the work work for pennies.

+1.
So all the drivers on near minimum wage have plenty of other places they could go work at then? if they did, the ones paying crap wages would go out of business pretty quick, but they haven’t meaning drivers don’t have a choice in working at those places to feed their families and pay the bills.
Contraflow:
Nobody is forced to work for minimum wage.
Anybody who drives a wagon for minimum wage (or anywhere near minimum wage ) does so through choice.
…and it’s a choice that drags the whole industry down.
Don’t you think that somebody working for near minimum wage would get a better paying job if they could? There may be many parts of the country where drivers have options, but equally there are many parts of the country where they don’t.

You mean also like the ones that work for the companies that treat drivers like crap do it by choice as well?
And you can’t just blame those drivers for dragging the industry down, it’s every driver or group of drivers that doesnt have the balls to stand up to management, instead most moan about it amongst them selves in the yard or down the road or on here.

Yes, exactly.
Judging by the level of butthurt you’re displaying, you’re part of that group? Right?
Far from it, but have seen yards full of them over the years.
You only have 3 choices in this industry, put up with it, stick up for your self or leave.
Contraflow:
That’s some u-turn you’ve just done Weeto. Ever thought of a career in politics?
Let’s recap. Minimum wage wagon drivers have no choice… but there’s three choices?
Make your mind up.
Dont be an arse all your life.
The ones that have no choice working there put up with it, where as if you have a choice you have 2 other options to take.
Contraflow:
I’ll take that ■■■■ poor retort as an admission of defeat.
No further questions Your Honour.
What’s up with you? and which bit dont you agree with, or are you being childish again?
Childish? Moi? Perish the thought.
BTW, are you after my crown of “member most likely to kick off over nothing”? I seem to have won last years (a tad unfair I thought but winnings winning!) but I never tried to start a fight over something as simple as a laughing emicon put to someone elses post. You’ve set the bar high early on, ill give you that. Not sure even i’ll be able to top that one.

Not after anyones crown, just stated a fact that 1 or 2 people dont agree with.

Rubbish . If the wages are that bad across the board then instead of being a stereotypical thick ■■■■ wagon driver and just sucking it up, you get off your arse and retrain to some line of work that pays better or you relocate. There is always a choice but no-one said they’d be easy ones to stomach. If drivers keep on turning up every week for their £6.80/hr then the company will keep paying it.
