Was speaking to a driver yesterday and he showed me the camera that had just been fitted in his cab pointing at the driver and not the road. This was on a dhl contract but was for howdens joinery and just wondered if this is going to be the norm in a few years. What happens when the wife phones for ■■■■■■■■■ do you just let the office watch
Couldn’t be putting up with that, I talk to myself fairly regularly through the day & wouldn’t want anyone knowing I’m a sandwich short of a picnic.
Yeah ditto!
How is this the end of tramping !!!..just cos theres a camera in the cab…a mate of mine had one fitted, so politely put a nice yellow duster over it…something to do with invasion of privacy…so thats what you tell the boss if he wants to fit one in yours.
Failing that, show the office staff what you really get up to on your travels, , ■■■■■■■ in the bottle, stripping off for bed, showing some flesh, even the odd ■■■, i meant cigarette, must be able to make some money as well, ` game for a laugh anyone ?

Thank God for that, I thought it was just me!

I said the end as we know it not the end of tramping! Surely the camera would be of more use facing the road to record accidents

What happens when you take a swig of drink from your bottle or have a sweet or change a cd ? Could they sack you ?
The camera is the final straw…weve already got the spy in the cab
to measure what stops we made, and for how long, how fast or slow weve been, what hours we
ve worked, or havnt, Trackers to see where we
ve stopped, where weve been, and hows our driving today etc, etc, then we got the chip on the card, that tells us what we spend our money on, how we spend it and where we spend it, then god knows what technology is lurking in our mobile
s…so i guess its time to join MI5 or MI6, as they say, if you cant beat em…join em.

What type of bag would one like? If he joins MI5 or MI6
Not sure I could put up with one myself but I guess their argument would be that most office workers have a CCTV camera pointing at them during working hours.
Our point would be can it be switched off (physically) by the driver as soon as he is on break?
Remember reading somewhere they switch off as soon as the engine is.

Looks like it not just the end of tramping it’s the end of the job, good thing youngsters are not getting into this game hey, here’s a good reason why…
So cover it up,job jobbed.
We had some for some volvo safety analysis.I didn’t sign to say I would be on camera so I covered them up.

Quality…
I got in a wagon the other day and the company had a letter which was left in the cab saying they had been ‘advised’ to have cameras put in the cabs for accident purposes. The letter said that the camera’s will record the road and the speed of the vehicle as well as recording the sound from the cab. It went on to say that there is a button which you can mute the sound recording but you have to press this everytime you start the ignition. It says that they would rather you didn’t mute the recording as it will give greater evidence in the event of an accident… What would that be, the driver shouting aaaarrrrrrrgghhhh just before a bang ?

your brave admiting that on here
A gross invasion of privacy for all, not just trampers I think.
I would have to presume here that firms are hoping that out of work drivers are so desperate to “comply” in order to get/keep their jobs, that this push that goes beyond the pale of intrusiveness gets through the laws already in place regarding privacy.
In the end, it’s upto drivers to make a stand.
I won’t be working in any vehicle with a camera pointed at me.
I’ll just up sticks and work for a reputable firm elsewhere instead, and if I can’t get a job elsewhere, I’ll sign on STILL refusing to knuckle under to this BULLCRAP!
If firms want drivers that don’t smash vehicles up, don’t have points on their licences, and put in a good effort as standard, then they ADVERTISE for said driver quality and PAY the going rate!
£7.33ph and “6 points OK” is totally out of order, and it’s time that everyone else united and agreed with me on this, thus making it no longer possible for firms to get away with.
External accident data is relevant to be spied upon by a camera.
Internal cab activity can only be there to see if people swear, smoke, drink, listen to music, and do just about anything else that we’re pretty much all prone to do on occasions without ill effect on our driving skills.
Fleetboard is bad enough, but at least that’s about driving itself, rather than one’s personal cab habits!
