Is this normal multi drop

Let me know if anyone fancies it, if I recommend someone and they stay I get a bonus, also take new drivers no questions asked don’t say I didn’t warn you

Sounds about right for the money… 3663 where paying something along the lines of 35k in a class 2, quite a few years back…but its a young mans game…and if you dont mind all the handballing and the hassle of not being able to park direct outside of the location, then having to put stuff away near enough for the customer…

You got all the delays with getting in checked then they want you to take it to a different part of the premises … and I don’t think the planners take all this BS into account…

Many years ago I did food deliveries into Central London in a 7.5, usually did 30 drops a day and 2 collections on the way back to depot. Money was good though.

Thats it then I am firing out the job applications again lets hope something comes up soon, annoyed because I was offered another job my first week in but I didnt follow it up ,oh

Try working for P&H mate.

Makes Bidvest look like a holiday camp.

Tbh if you’re a new driver PH is a fantastic place to get your driving skills up. Some of the places I’ve had to get into have been a real challenge which as helped me no end. It’s limited driving rarely hit 4h a day but it’s proper physical graft and a proper ballache.

If you’re a new driver and wanna get fit you’d love it. No good if you don’t live local to depot though for me it was a 45m drive both ways and a 12h day turns into 15 very easily.

Money is great though 28k for 48h time and half after that.

P&H was my first LGV driving job mate, and I agree with you that it is an excellent way for a newbie to get a start.

Crap job though.

Getting you to drive a van back to the yard after your hours have run out is illegal.
Once you have gone past your 15 hours, the company must transport you to (most usually by taxi) to a place of your choice, either your home or back to the yard to collect your car.
You are not supposed to be in a company vehicle, i.e., being picked up and dropped off in another lorry en route back to the yard.
Asking you to drive the van back, if discovered could affect the company’s O’ licence, but more importantly YOUR licence.
If they overload you with work, it’s their problem…

Was thinking if trying them myself as a new pass !!

Is big brother watching you in the cab all the time like people have said with bidvest ?

Not at Haydock depot mate. There is CCTV at the rear of most wagons mainly due to tobacco theft, but there were no inward facing cab cameras or anything like that.

Good stuff mate that would feel like doing my test all over again with examiners watching and I hated that the first time lol

How would they be with casual type work do think mate I mean like ten days here and then nothing for a few weeks ? Or do they expect you do be continuous ? That’s going to be my downfall at the beginning.

Agency route with them is the way forward if you cannot do continuous work for a while. Which depot is closest to you?

Doesn’t matter whether you travel by lorry, taxi, chauffeur driven limousine, private helicopter or on horseback, or who is paying for it - time spent travelling from the vehicle back to base or to your home cannot be counted as Rest.

I think haydock for me mate about 8 mile away from me.
Not really any intention of taking anything full time just some extra pennies and experience on a sort of two weeks on two weeks off basis, hard graft does not really bother me.

They use ADR Network and you can do 3 days a week. Monday/Friday/Saturday.

Shaunb:
Ok so here’s the story I have just started my 1st job driving I work 4 day weeks starting 4.30am usually get back to the yard 6.30

That would be 4 reduced daily rests when only 3 are allowed !

You’ll need to use umbrella or Ltd company but they was only wanting people for 3 days a week. I spoke to one foreign guy who was doing it he loved it said he don’t need the money so only works the 3 days. Can still end up doing 36h in 3 days mind.

Can I ask what agency you are working for? I’d have some of that for that money

Seems about right, back in the day when I first left the forces my first civi job was doing the Manchester run for Danish Bacon (DBC). The first few weeks was hard, running out of time because places closed (I didn’t run out of time, I couldn’t deliver as they had closed). Getting used to the product you was dropping off, not looking for X on the list etc etc

When I first started i found I spent more time checking of the goods against the delivery note, rather then driving to the XyZ drop. Where is AbC item, okay that’s there, where is DeF etc etc, and when I got used to it, oh AbC, I’ve seen that, DeF yea that’s there, GhI seen that. Get the picture?

If you stick with it, if your switched on it will all fall into place, you will fly though checking off the delivery note at the customers premises, you’ll find new little shortcuts from drop to drop, know when to avoid a drop at a certain time if they get busy. And at the end you’ll find yourself parked up waiting for the clock to run down to head back to base, so you don’t get lumbered with another job.

At that time I started DBC took on the Costa contract, the old Manc driver started doing that run I took over from him. Within Months he’d see me back in the yard and say, “what was you doing parked at XyZ at ■■;Yy ?”, I’d reply “not heading back for another job”, this was back in the days of no GPS in trucks tho and analog tachos

Just stay well clear of Fresh Direct. I Did 4 years of all that running up and down stairs . Checking stuff of sweating my balls off…all for rubbish money. All it was any good for was training for when I got my class 1. But if your happy lad keep going with the head down you will know when it’s time to get the F### out of there.
