have no idea who Vern is, but that’s quite funny in a cringingly embarrassing sort of way, unless of course the driver has bad cataracts or something, which may be wouldn’t be so funny.
If he turns 'em all on at once it’ll probably stop the engine dead.
I was overtaken by either this one or one very similar the other night on the M62, I flashed him in and by the reaction on his indicators I think I made his night

Sorry but you’re not convincing anyone with that tall story. Those Leyland Sherpa/DAF vans are incapable of overtaking anything. I once overtook one going UP towards Stainmore fully freighted thats how crap they are.

The LDV was on the back of a recovery truck, methinks… he did turn them all on at once.

12 or 15 years ago, quite a mumber of Sherpa crewbuses were specially built by LDV for ‘a government agency’. Identifiable by twin rears and a red stripe down the side, they were built with Rover 3.5 v8’s and 5 speed manual gearboxes and were capable of well over 100mph! Terrifying, but they WOULD do it! At their end of life, we weren’t allowed to sell them - they had to be cut up for scrap!

I have collected them from the factory and delivered them on trade plates usually to Royal Mail.
They had no power and it was common for something to break or fall off on the way.

I don’t think that’s as rare as you might think as over the years quite a lot were built with Rover 3.5 and later 3.9/4.0 V8s, mostly ambulances (majority for London, before they started using Sprinters) and Police riot vans.
The ones you mention sound like they could’ve been for one of the Bomb Disposal units.
Yep,my mates brother had one.
Ex police riot squad.
