Fair enough if you have a fetish for ‘da bois’ but he’s a troll, and a bad one to boot -link to troll’s 20 odd posts
OP, you are not wasting your money. There are still decent jobs around (even on jumped up puddle jumpers) that pay shedloads more than min wage. I passed cat C at 41 and don’t look back.

I managed to read Bill Brysons new book, all 389 pages, over 5 days sue to the amount of time spent on Loading bays.
If we could sue for the amount of time spent on loading bays - we’d have an easier way to become millionaires than winning the lottery.

Was talking to a Dutch kid the other day as he waited 3 hours for his paperwork ( could have been longer, I left before he did). He said over there, the transport companies fine the RDC if they keep a driver beyond a pre agreed time, usually an hour. However, the RDC can fine the transport company of they miss their timeslot. He said it’s a really good system.
What work are you doing now and for what money?
Once passed try out 3663 I’ve heard that’s an eye opener
Then he’ll know for sure; what a con, this HGV driving (earn’s you £500/600 per week-oh, and we forgot to tell you that it’s for working very long hours) really is.
It’s a good job, ignore the haters fella they are obviously in the wrong job but rather than do something about it they’d rather sit on a forum crying about it.
As for long hours a 15hr day driving a truck will go quicker than a 9hr day working in a warehouse or office,I’ve been doing this driving lark 11 years now and it’s a good job,my only gripe sometimes would be the early starts normally I have to be in between 3-4am but it’s not something I’ll whinge about on here because that’ll make me as bad as the rest of the complainers on this site
If it’s what you wanna do then get it done fella,in the right job you’ll earn good money for doing little work…can you really call driving work?,I’ve certainly grafted harder for a lot less money when I worked on building sites.

far too many bell ends allowed onto this site imo, what the hell do you think plumbers work/sparkys? people high up in business? or how many hours did they work growing their business?
what do you mean by long hours? I have mates who are site lads they bang in as many hours as a driver does at times as they go quiet in periods too. I know a guy who grew his helicopter business yet still works 11 hours a day. I work in an office 10 hours a day and am on call 24/7, most drivers will work as a max 60.
Bumped into a Doctor friend through work the other day
She is fed up with the hours and the current pay and is despondent at the prospect of getting a substantial cut to her salary. She earns £31,000, which includes a 40% supplement to her basic salary, to compensate for the antisocial hours she works. Once the new contract coming in is imposed, she thinks she will see this reduced to £27,000 or £28,000 and she expects the hours she works will become even more antisocial. This will not really get any better for her for a good 10 years due to her student fees. She campaigned for David Cameron in The general election, but has subsequently rescinded her membership of the Conservative party in protest at the contract. When I spoke to her she had already covered 100 hours in a week and was literally falling asleep on her feet. Sort of puts things into perspective really.
I drive on my days off and will be going back to class 1 work, it’s what I did 20 years ago and still enjoy doing it. Money for what I do at this time is also not good, there are cuts and our pensions have been cut so I, like a lot of others are leaving to do what I want to do. As long as you are happy and can pay the bills go for it.
You only get one life so be happy in what you do.
Maybe your doctor friend should become a GP I understand there is a shortage of these, pay around £100,000 no weekend or night working.
Yep, loads of good things.
I know driving is driving, but due to the amount of different types of trucks and trailers, theres so many different sectors. People love tippers, people hate them etc. People love tramping people hate it etc etc etc.

That’s a junior doctor or registrar. She is at the bottom of her league (Foundation Year 2, I’d say).
At the top of the league; a plastic surgeon is a doctor, but practices on live patients. They earn maybe up to; £400, 000 per year.
A far cry from being a lorry driver, need I say.

yawn, if you look at some HGV jobs I bet they earn a decent wage too. maybe not 400k a year but a good wage. as the guy said she is a doctor not a trainee, working long hours for not great ££ same as teachers.
why is it on this site every ■■■■■■■ bellend has your stupid ■■■■■■■ picture too.

Training to become a doctor is a long road. After five years at medical school, junior doctors do a minimum of four years’ further training to qualify as a GP, or eight years to be a hospital consultant.
The first year after university is spent as a junior house officer, split between medicine and surgery. After that, having gained full registration with the General Medical Council, you spend two or three years or more as a senior house officer, before deciding where to specialise.
Once you are a registrar, you can become a GP after one year, or a specialist consultant in five to six years. In their first year, all junior doctors have free digs attached to the hospital. They need them: most are on duty for 72 hours a week.
So I think she’s a very long way from becoming a plastic surgeon.
Oh sorry, feeding the troll. Won’t happen again.

I would agree, then again its probably taken a tad longer than a week to get trained, unlike driving, coupled with all the debt from uni, I think I’d rather drive a truck, my licence having been paid for by the taxpayer. Thanks all.
There is a mass variety of driving jobs, so if you dont like the first job look around at what other companies do,
For me, i can earn a decent enough amount to keep me happy, I see parts of the country that I would have to normally take time off for, and as a personal I love sunrise and sunset, so if I can be in the right place at the right time I can get myself at least 1 smile a day

No, HGV driver’s don’t earn a decent wage. Unless, you consider £10 p/h to be decent,
why is it on this site every [zb] bellend has your stupid [zb] picture too.
Pardon?

Because its the same person boring us all to death with the same trolling. No HGV driver shortage, lorry drivers are idiots and personal abuse. The same old topics bla bla bla. Only person that ever agrees with the troll instantly pops up like clockwork and agrees with what they say, creating a bat and ball dialogue. Bizzarely they didn’t take the slightest offence that I suggested that was suspicious. Fishy or misguided?
Considering what drivers actually do I would think £10 ph would be an adequate wage. Plenty will be on more & plenty will be on less , I don’t think anyone comes into the driving game expecting to make fortune. As Has been pointed out its not the hardest job in the world, carried out by people way below your level of pay & skills, whatever they may be.
