Is there any point

tommymanc:
All goods carrying commercial vehicles(VANS) are limited by law to 60 MPH whilst unladen they can do 70… whats the [zb] deal they drop 2 mph of 70, you really wanna ■■■■■ about Martiime, Downtown and Stobarts, limiting their units to 52 (these container drivers are the lazyest bunch of [zb] I know!)

gov.uk/speed-limits

EDIT, FIXED FAILED GRAMMAR FOR NODDING CLOWN

And where exactly does it state goods vehicles (vans) are restricted to 60mph laden but 70mph unladen?

Absolute tosh.

Goods vehicles (not more than 7.5 tonnes maximum laden weight) 30 (48) 50 (80) 60 (96) 70 (112)
60 (96) if articulated or towing a trailer

50mph on single, 60mph on dual 70mph on motorway unless towing then it’s 60mph on a motorway. Makes no difference whether the vehicle is laden or unladen.

The same as people who think smaller vans have the same limits as cars, the only small vans with car limits are car derived vans, example Corsa van, Astra van, Fiesta van etc, in other words they make a van out of a car design, not a Vivaro or transit connect etc that there is no car version of them. A daft rule to be fair and probably unlikely to be enforced.
