Is there any funding for training?

I personally got off my arse, did a crap job and saved hard to get my Class 1. But I suppose that’s just me…

Same, I must be a mug.

I climbed the crappy ladder. Worked as an agency bin man till my feet were covered in blisters until I could afford a flt license, got a bit better job, saved till I could do c2. Worked on the rigids until I could afford ce. If you want it, you’ll find a way.

Very similar situation to myself.

As the OP has a category D licence already I believe he should receive no funding for training. You have a skill so therefor a means to get a decent job, the government shouldn’t give you money just so you can drive a slightly different type of vehicle for very similar money.

But if they do I might just go on the dole to get a bus licence for the fun of it.

Hi Daz,

I am currently waiting to hear from a charity called Aspire CILT, they provide grants for people looking to get into the Transport and Logistics industry. They were recommended to me by another member (Berty).
I have put in an application to cover the cost of my Class 2 lessons and test. They are meeting in February to discuss applications they have received. They only meet a few times a year but seems like they do great work & it’s great that it’s free too.
If you do receive funding all they ask you do is keep them up to date and write a report on your progress and how they’ve helped you.

Hi m8 its bywater

It’s alright lad’s, I’ve contacted my local council and told them I don’t want to pay for anything ever again. They said that they understand, and not only do I not have to pay for anything ever again, they said that I am entitled to every form of funding available.

So I am currently doing my pilot’s licence through the job centre whilst NASA send the correct paperwork through for a fully funded astronaut’s course.

I fancy a posh meal and a night on the ■■■■ tonight. Anyone know where I can get funding [zb]? :unamused:

:grimacing: As Daz put it

daz1204:
If I could afford to pay for myself mate I would’ve by now, everybody’s circumstances are different

You obviously can’t afford your pilots licence yourself so it makes sense that the tax payers pay for it. GOODLUCK!

I’ve put enough in the pot over the years won’t hurt to have a bit back

Don’t judge a book by its cover comes to mind with some of those negative ■■■■ taking comments ! None of you know me or my circumstances I had to give up my job on the buses to care for my wife who has not been well & I’ll be honest its been driving me mad be at home all day as a person who has worked most my life, so we are trying to make alternative arrangements so I can go back to work, but the buses is shifts plus weekends, bank holidays etc not to mention the grief that you get, so I need something more 9 to 5 & no weekends & the letter I have for a guaranteed job is ideal. So what’s wrong with asking for help ? As I said I’ve paid enough in over the years unlike some people who’ve come here & get everything For[zb]all without paying a penny in. So don’t start taking the ■■■■ when you don’t know the full story.

I see you’ve got a job offer I’m just surprised you’ve found a mon to Friday 9 to 5 lorry driving job. I’m a newbie but my impression has been it’s all early starts and a lot of things can get in the way of finishing at a set time to.

My old man works there he’s at retirement age & he doesn’t want hassle of the job anymore. He can’t believe how easy the job is he starts at 5 & finishes about half 3 all local runs
