One little tip is to download “silent voice” and install that, then you don’t get the irritating spoken directions but you do still hear alarms for scameras etc.

Well tbh Harry the scamerca warnings were what ■■■■■■ me off about it the most. I drive at the limit in scamera areas anyway so don’t need bleepers going off alerting me to the fact as well. Coming out of Kendal on the A6 it was bleeping pretty much non-stop and I didn’t know WTF was up with it at first until I picked it up and squinted at the screen to see a bunch of fixed and mobile scamera warnings. I’m really not surprised that the standard of driving has dropped so much in this past few years as I think much of it is a direct result of the distraction caused by satnavs and verbal instructions given at inappropriate times. Coming out of Penrith it told me to take the 3rd exit on a rbt but around 100 yards before passing the 2nd exit it said “exit now” (or similar) even though the car position icon was clearly where I actually was on the road.

can you not turn the bleeps of in the settings ? thats what was driving me mad with mine at first , freekin thing had a fit everytime it thought i was going near a speed camera . and can you not mute it ?
Yes, I have the volume turned right down on mine because I don’t like the distraction of the noise.
Something else you can do is to download “POI’s”, for example low bridges, Keyfuels filling stations, I used to have branches of Travis Perkins and Jewson on mine when I was delivering to such places regularly, but there are thousands of them- KFC, McDonalds, all sorts.

OK I now know what a POI is . Thought it was period of inactivity at first
. But how do you get them onto the satnav - I don’t see any download option on mine.
This thread is like one of Tobe’s. Started off about Kendal weight limits and now we’re talking about how to get Travis Perkins maps onto satnavs . All that remains is for a post about a bloke carrying a bathroom suite home on his back (or was it a wheelbarrow?) and the thread will be complete.

A good place to start is to connect your SatNav to your PC using the USB lead supplied. This will automatically open up a weird and wonderful world for you to explore and customise your SatNav.
SatNavs come with some POI’s installed- petrol stations, cashpoint machines etc, but there are thousands of downloadable POIs of things which may be of interest to you- for example I have German truckstops on my SatNav so I can instantly navigate to the nearest one even though I didn’t know there was one there.
Can anyone tell me if there is a download app for wheelbarrow weight limits in Kendal?

I didn’t get any usby lead with it as I bought it s/h. Only got the unit, car charger and suction cup holdy thingy. I don’t have it in front of me right now but from what I recall it wasn’t any standard usby socket on it, it was a wide flat one - wider than a mini usby one. I’ll have a look tomorrow. I might have a lead kicking about somewhere from some other device that will fit.

Not necessary, people in ■■■■■■■ can count local wheelbarrow weight limits on the fingers of one hand.
Six.

No, your SatNav won’t have a USB socket on it, but you can get a lead which has a USB socket on one end which you plug into your PC, and you plug the trapezoidal end into where your power supply normally goes into the SatNav, this automatically opens up a site on your PC. (You can also charge the battery by doing this)
Is it a TomTom or something else?
It’s a Garmin Nuvi 205. Only paid £30 for it and it’s like new and works perfect.

There’s no width limit for your fat gob either.
Good ole princess as reliable as a Jap car, someone slates her and calls her a armchair driver and
suddenly she is driving this and that and making long rambling sixth form style reports on auto boxes
asking all sorts of questions just so she can prove she is driving instead of going around topping up her
peanut machines once a week
Bless her .
Probably quoting some driving review from a magazine. Bet he can’t drive a nail in!
