Is there a time limit to pass after medical and provision en

Hello,

I have been planning on doing my class 2 driving soon, but because of a change of circumstances (agency job offering me full time contract) I will be putting it on hold.

I haven’t got far, I’ve only gone as far as practicing theory and booking medical. The medical is paid for (£48) and I have it next Friday in Chester so I’ll still go. Then I will send off for provisional entitlement.

Will there be any set time I have to do the theory or test in?

I remember when I did my car test I had to sit the driving test within 2 years of passing the theory, is it the same here?

Cheers all

(I did search but couldn’t find an answer.)

I suspect it is the theory test that causes the biggest problem. I think it is valid for only two years from when you passed, so if you haven’t got your full licence by then you’ll have to do it again.

Just had a quick look at the gov.uk website - you have to pass both parts of the theory test within two years of each other to get the theory pass certificate, then a further two years to complete practical training and test. Meaning you would have 4 years max from getting the provisional entitlement on your licence.

Thank you both very much for your replies. That helps massively. I’m glad it’s at least 2 years like the car one, that’s more than long enough I should imagine.
