Just want some thoughts on what you think of the following scenario!!
I’m 40yrs old, been driving over 20yrs, have been doing 7.5t multi drop for the last 3yrs & passed my class C this month. Getting sick of people & agencies saying for ‘insurance’ reasons you need C on for 2yrs.
So according to a local agency if I was say 30 yrs old, had my C on licence for 2yrs but had never driven anything other than a car, firms would prefer to take on that person!!
Thinking I should just apply for jobs stating 3yrs multi drop experience & yes I have class C. Think this is the only way to then get sat in front of someone & then sell myself.

I have no idea what Andejs was saying. But…
With agencies you will find that they quote 2 years experience until they are desperate for that job to be done.
With employers, if you are able to sell yourself well, they will overlook any premium increase you will attract (if any).
Get out there and sell yourself.
Unfortunately the first 3 months of any year are always quiet even for those who have regular work for the other 9 months of the year.
You may find that you have to sit on your licence for the next 4 weeks and then hit hard just before April dawns.
Ironic thing is one agency offered some ad-hoc class c work but I’m not really prepared to jack in a full time job & do ad-hoc for agency, to much of a gamble at the moment.
Think your right though, seems very quite at the mo, but hopefully things will pick up in a few wks & I get more luck knocking on doors as & when I can in late march/April.

if try aply in different agency.in some agency can try 2+ time early or later can get some class 1 job.all depend from what company around you, where are you live.

I think Andrejs meant sooner or later if you keep trying you will get a job, just keep applying.
.and depend what company.some company in first driving day give to you just induction.some company give driving assestment .some time for new drivers assestment not easy pass.i know lads who was working 10 years but fail assestment because for asessors don t liked reversing or keep steering wheels with one hand.
Some years ago, like you, I had a regular 7.5 multi-drop job but the plan was to go large… About two months after I passed my Class 2 I couldn’t wait any longer and I ‘bit the bullet’ as it were and went back on the agency (yes it was very risky with a mortgage). Within about six weeks of pretty constant Class 2 work I was offered a full-time position with a haulier I had been temping for. This was August/September time of year though. The same story applied with 7.5 tonne work - started on the agency and was offered permanent work by a client. Now I have my Class One! Fortune favours the brave, and you can always do 7.5 tonne agency work to fill in if Class 2 work is in short supply. It worked for me!
