Is our job safer/the same/less so than in the past?

Steed007:
Even one of the full time workers told me 28 drivers had died for that company in 2010

Regardless of the validity of the quote :stuck_out_tongue: , it did get me thinking what sort of occupation we have safety-wise.

So I had a dig around the ONS site to see if I could find any numbers. This is what I found:
Occupational mortality in England and Wales, Occupational mortality - (ONS released 29/10/2009)

Occupational mortality in England and Wales, 1991-2000 (abridged table)

1043 over ten years, approx 100 a year then?

I wonder if things have changed much with the sea of Hi-Viz and all that jazz. I doubt it.

Now,thats not really a safe Job.
But its on you and your luck if you survive and how.
At Heathrow slept a Driver on the seat.Warehouse man opened Door,Driver fell out,on his Heath and,β€œDeath”
Other have heavy Crash and survive.

you would need to factor in deaths resulting from other than accidents to obtain a realistic comparison.
death from strokes etc which have been influenced by the job and work patterns etc.
