Is it wrong to want more

is it wrong to want more… Im driving class 2 for the co.op and been told today i could be waiting ages to be moved up to class 1 as there are loads of ppl waiting and depends on the buisness needs… So am i wrong to want to change jobs to drive class one as thats what i want to do or staybat the co op as i may be moved up in time or just apply for class one jobs. Sorry for this rant but i want the chance to prove myself.

Yeah, you’re mad.

C2 at Co-op is a well paid job, not the easiest I’ll grant you, but you’d struggle to match the wages on most C+E jobs, and driving an artic is just a job mate.

Sure, it’s nice when you 1st start, but the novelty wears off and it’s all about the £’s then

yes here here

and i’d rather back an elongated class 2 with rear steer than a 20 foot single axel trailer any day
once my brain worked out which way to turn the wheel that is!!!

Youve only had your c license 3 months and your c+e 2 months going by your signature, get some miles under your belt and experience. You’ve got your c+e license, do your job, keep your head down and when the time comes they will throw the keys at you when they are desperate and that will be that you’ll be on artics all the time before you know it.

Is the co-op rigid rate not £28000 a year?If you can beat that driving an artic in the current climate then go for it–BUT with the ink still drying on your license,I can’t see it. The co is going to be there forever-paying good wages, and as somebody else has already said, after an assesment,if they are desperate for someone with a c+e one day, your chance will come.

Not wrong but your current plan looks, to me, to be ill advised.
1 - You’re on good money at the moment.
2 - You’re with a company that runs artics.
3 - You’re known to that company.
4 - You’re still new to this game.

I’d be inclined to badger and bore the office clerk into submission.

1 - Every day remind them that you’ve got E (class 1) to go with the C (rigid).
2 - You’re going into probably the busiest 10 weeks of the year.
3 - There WILL be an artic run that needs to be covered in that time.
4 - Even when you get onto artics you will still have to drive rigids at times.
5 - Every time you speak to the office ask them if you’re on artics the following day. Do it with a light tone but do it every time, plant the seed of an idea and watch it germinate. eventually they will get fed up and give you a go just to shut you up.
6 - Don’t screw the chance when it comes, if it’s late/early take it.

you on agency?

Its 24k a year as its run by ND as they have the contract for andover and avonmouth… I know everyone is right and yes i should stay and build my exp up when i have the 2years under my belt i cant move on if i still feel that i want to, ive been told theres a long wait to be upskilled to class 1 even for the ppl that have the licence so i will have a long wait thats why ive been looking to move and applying for class 1 jobs.

Im greatful for my first driving job and its a easy number really short days good money… But i feel that i can do more maybe its just me needing to prove i can do it or maybe i just want it all now.

Start at the bottom and work my way up to the euro work that i want to do, and in the mean time spend time with my wife and 1year old.

It’s good to have a goal in life and i wish you all the best in getting to that goal.

good pay and short hours are not something you will probably get at most class1 jobs…stay put, earn the coin, wait for 2 years to elapse.

Stick with it, euro work is all backloads for johnny foreigner finished pretty much years ago, you have the perfect job for a young man with a family don’t wish your life away waiting for a shot on C+E it will happen soon enough with the Co-Op.

Sleeping in lay bys for £8 an hour or a cushy number trollying It’s a no brainer.
