Is it racist,am I racist?

Sunday morning Portsmouth Ferry Terminal off the ferry first stop is passport check and it seems to be a regular occurence that my passport is checked by a member of an ethnic community,an Indian/Pakistani employed by our Mickey Mouse Border Guard.I do find this offensive does that make me Racist?? It does have me wondering whether border guards in India/Pakistan might actually be ‘white English/British’.I am actually permitted to enter my country by a member of an ethnic community…doesn’t seem right somehow.

Skin colour does not determin nationality.
Whowever checks your passport has rules to follow, they make decision based on the rules.

Yes. Colour of skin doesn’t mean they aren’t as British as you or I :unamused:

Is it their ethnicity that bothers you or the colour of their skin, If they were white, but of French, German, Dutch, Swedish etc ancestry would you be so bothered?

If they are second third or even 4th generation British born but none white does that mean they are not British? - How far back in generations do you have to go before you become British now?

I am actually permitted to enter my country by a member of an ethnic community

For those born here its their country too. :unamused: :unamused:

The old cricket question !!!

does have me wondering whether border guards in India/Pakistan might actually be ‘white English/British’

don’t know about Pakistan but not in India.

And in answer to your first question, of course it makes you racist!
You have no idea if the officer was an immigrant or a Britsh born asian, you simply object because you see him as different because of his colour.
But as long as you don’t do anything about it, you are allowed to be racist

Reserved posts (including immigration officers and assistant immigration officers) are open only to nationals of the UK (under the terms of the 1996 Nationality Act, unless in a civil service post on or before 31 May 1996).

You should be:
a British citizen;
a British subject under Part IV of the British Nationality Act 1981 having the right of abode in the UK; and/or
a British Dependent Territories citizen acquiring citizenship from a connection with Gibraltar

The term ‘British’ has been too loosely applied, multi cultural Britain…no thanks.

i think it says more about you than it does the border control agent :unamused:

If you are born in a stable, it doesn’t make you a horse.

i too have a problem with it. not the colour of the skin though, but if it’s a german, or any other immigrant, then it’s not right.
for example, if i am in court, and being judged by an immigrant, then it is as wrong as me being a judge in kenya, or germany. it should be an indigenous person that judges someone in that country. and let’s face it, when you hand your passport in, you are being assessed or judged by that person.
if i go to hospital, and get treated by an indian doctor, or i go to the house of a none indigenous person to do some work for them, then that’s ok. neither them or me are given a position of authority over one another.

so, you are not a racist, you are a realist.

I do not hate you for the colour of your skin,
I do not hate you for the country you’re in,
I do not hate you for the god you choose,
I do not hate you for your ■■■■■■ up rules!,
But I will hate you for hating me,
… And spreading your lies and hypocrisy!
And I will hate you for defiling my flag
And burning it like a disposable rag!
And I will hate you for despising my laws
And turning them into political wars!!
And I will hate you for my men who fight
To ensure my freedom and continued rights
And you think you can come here and spit on their grave??!!
Ignoring the people of the nation they save
Oh yes I will hate you for twisting my faith
Translating my values as moral less waste!
While you’re terrorist uses my country to hide
Demanding protection, the two faced snide!
You demand my asylum from your own desolations
And pay my flag back with your sick retributions
The political clowns in the government coats
Will soon be evicted by the Englishman’s votes
If you don’t like our lives and our ways and our land
You can ■■■■ off wherever will take your demands!
But I’m not sitting back to let my people down
You’ll be royally ■■■■■■ by the English Crown
I’m the country of England were true men abide
And you’ll NEVER extinguish our NATIONAL PRIDE!!!

What if they were born here, as well as there parents and even grand parents? how far back do you have to go before their ancestry is no longer an issue. Most people in Britain will along the line somewhere have a bloodline thats isnt indigenous to the UK - Viking, Roman, Germanic, French etc.

For me if your born here and your allegience is to this country - that makes you British

I have never once shown animosity towards anyone because they come from a different race or ethnic background.

At the same time I believe that the mass immigration policies of the last 50-60 years have been disastrous for indigenous working class people- and the vast majority of people are working class even if they have social pretensions and call themselves “middle class”

It has only happened to drive labour costs downwards for the benefit of the already wealthy and any working class person thinking this is a “good thing” strikes me as being the archetypal “turkey voting for Christmas”

It has improved the choice of takeaway food though.

I just plain dont like the frogs.

so, it’s not just the pies you like then

For 20 of my last 40 years in this industry I hauled hanging meat for a company owned and operated by Pakistani gentlemen. Many were born in this country but none ever considered themselves British. They lived here, did business here but their loyalty was in my opinion first and foremost to Pakistan.

and some of the none indigenous totty is quite tidy too :grimacing:

A right can of worms this whole thing.

I wonder if Australians object to British coppers arresting them and issuing fixed penalties, for their own laws, recently there was a recruitment campaign there to attract Britsh bobbies.

I have no problem with the colour of a persons skin, and i respect their religious beliefs or lack of, so long as they respect my beliefs and way of life we’re all happy.

I know many people of foreign extraction of all colours, most of them are decent people whom i would gladly have as my next door neighbours and best friends, all are Britsh citizens.
I equally know some white people, indigenous Brtons apparently, who i’d cross the road to avoid, you see them featuring on Jeremy Kyle and Crimestoppers.

Good and bad comes in all colours, shapes and sizes, evil has no colour.

The problems have arisen because we the electorate (not me) voted for politicians who have no loyalty to our country or its welfare, they for a variety of reasons allowed unmetered immigration for decades, it wouldn’t have mattered what colour or creed the immigrants were, the policians forced a quart into a pint pot with the economy of half a pint to sustain it all.

Oriental and Latin women do have that certain something though, phwoar…
