Is it okay to be crap if you are an agency driver?

So you are trying to do two jobs. You’re ‘working in the lab’ when you’re supposed to be taking a daily rest.

Yep.

Hope the equipment works better in the lab than your brakes do on the DAF!! :unamused: :unamused: Imagine, Bunsen won’t go out when you turn the gas off whilst your experiment is coming to the boil… BOOM

I might do class 1 so I don’t have to do this tight drops and drive manuals.

You’re in for a surprise.

My thoughts as well , just wait till you get builder centre Abby road Park Royal [emoji49]nice straight yard to reverse in to but 20 builders vans and x amount of FLT’s flying about at same time [emoji85][emoji85][emoji85][emoji85]

sammym:
I think that’s a bit harsh.

I think anyone would be questioning themselves if on their first day at their first drop - they dragged a skip into another wagon. And since then I’ve done 2 more shifts - whilst doing a ‘full time’ other job. . At the moment everything is new to me so obviously, I’m going to be a bit apprehensive.

So far I’m not sure anyone has held my hand. But I’ve been really grateful to both the people on here and in real life who have given me advice and answered my questions.

Don’t take it personally, it’s just an old guys views on the yoof of today.

Also, make sure you’re aware of the tachograph regs when it comes to working two jobs. Particularly the part about sufficient daily rest.

He’s not working two jobs. He’s making it up.

I had this guy sussed on his o/p, he’s a wind up merchant.
He’s either dozy having a giraffe or dozy’s love child complete with Gabardine raincoat and beret.
Worse case scenario is he actually IS genuine :open_mouth: .I sincerely hope not.
I know the training schools today are churning out many inept idiots, but ■■■■ me, it can’t be as bad that …can it? :open_mouth:

This is my tacho print off for yesterday. For those who claim I’m ‘making it up’ I hope it settles your mind.

Dunno if you’re bothered but the reg number is showing?

Cheers guys - have updated and removed reg. Especially as if you google it you find the company who own it. Can’t see them being too impressed with me slagging their wagons on here. Apart from that they were a sound company and treated me okay.

We all know who it is, they have a few new names on the go at the minute

You have shown 19 mins POA.

Did you work for Stobart’s?

45 minutes break exactly too. He’ll go far.
Well, untill he falls asleep behind the wheel…

Showing a printout…

Doesn’t stop you from making up a whole pile of crap that never happened does it.

I had to wait to get the truck fixed at start of shift. But realised I wasn’t sure if I got paid for POA (as agency told me for this company if I don’t let them scan my card I don’t get paid). So I changed it. Plus I don’t do enough hours in the week to really need to use POA - I just fancied pretending to be a propper driver and having to use it.

What do you think I’ve made up? I can’t see anything that outlandish I’ve said.

Just a quick word of advice Brother.

’ Proper ’ drivers do not use POA. It’s a tool that bosses use to screw you over

Cheers. Didn’t really know what it was. But on youtube, someone said you should use it whenever waiting. I won’t be using it again. Someone in real life warned me it wipes out my driving clock meaning I can’t tell when I need to get my 45 done.

Also for those taking the micky out of taking ‘exactly’ 45 min break. Well I don’t get paid when it’s on break. When I’m waiting to get unloaded I leave it on other work rather than break and get paid more. If I spend 10 hours at work and need to get a 45 in I want paying for 9.15 and not a minute less.

On a lot of tachos it does because PoA is only a UK thing so the majority of tachos recognise the mode for PoA as rest. If you think you’re going to be having a long period of PoA (30 minutes or more if you’ve already taken 15 minutes or more PoA or 15 minutes break or 45 minutes if you haven’t) then write down how much driving time it says you’ve done since your last break or shift start so if it does reset you know how much you’ve got left before needing to take a driving break.

As time goes on more of these tachos will be replaced by ones that do recognise PoA.

So you are pretending to do two jobs. You’re ‘working in the lab’ when you’re supposed to be taking a daily rest.

A lab session when you are a student is not work, it is study. Therefore he is not working when he is supposed to be taking a daily rest and is disposing of his time freely as he sees fit.

Personally I don’t think it’s right either if he’s not getting sufficient sleep but it’s not illegal.

It is if you have no personal pride…
