Im on £6 an hour for 40 then £9,not great but it just about pays the bills with 3-4 nights out,but only getting around 2 at the moment

The above dosnt pay your bills though. You might be in an older motor but just think what you can do with the £150

exactley mate 150 a week extra is the difference between tesco and aldi

jessicas dad:

everyone else gets the crap motas.

though the local paper showing a O licence application for 50 extra trucks based at the place they bought at Normanton (ECS?)

I am currently getting £6.00 per hour and £6.50 for every hour overtime worked. Both of which is classed as ‘Very Fair’ but is less compared to what my work mates get for driving Class-1. Well, anybody out there who can match this?

… Anyway last week The TM phones me up and asks would I be interested in joining full time. I say yes and we agree to talk rates later that day. It takes me three days to tie him down when eventually he tells me it is £6.10 per hour for class 1.

Now I know times are hard but that is scanadolous does anyone know of other firms that pay these kind of rates…

Personally, I think that’s extracting the urine somewhat. I get £6.50 per hour, time-and-a-half after the first 8 and a fiver per day bonus (no prangs, turning up for work, Etc.) This is on class-2, day-cabbed - so no nights out  and I only very rarely have to work a Saturday - for which we get time-and-a-half for the first 4 then double-time after that.

Devon - where I am - suffers notoriously poor wages - not sure about your area. But I still say £6.10 for Class-1 (and I imagine nights out too?) is taking the pee pee. :imp:

class 1 lads working for the contractor where i am only get 5.50 ALL hours including sat & sun

im on 7.5t and gettin 5.50 then T 1/2 after 8hrs, T 1/2 saturdays with guarantee 8hrs, dubble bubble sundays with 8hrs min.

i get slagged as money grabber cos im getting lots of overtime but at the end of the day, if they happy to keep turning in for 5.50 thats no-one elses look out but there own.

mentality seems to be that i should take a pay cut cos they’re class 1 and somehow better than i am - stamping feet and throwin teddies out of pram. dont think so - i aint the muppet keeping there gaffers 500SL Merc filled up of petrol and paying for his 5 or 6 holidays a year

£6.10 per hour for class 1 is a scandal. There are cleaning jobs advertised in my local paper paying similar!

My wifes friend is a school dinner lady…£6.30 per hour + half pay during school holidays :open_mouth:

I don’t want to start the whole eastern europe influx thing again but I’m pretty sure it hasn’t helped matters. The driver shortage that was reported not so long ago meant every Tom, ■■■■ & Harry (& me) jumped into the LGV scene thinking the country was awash with desperate employers not knowing that much of this “shortage” had been taken up by our Polish friends.

I would say there is now a surplus of LGV drivers which, along with the subsidy of the working/child tax credit system, enables the employer to offer low wages.

Ive been offered day work on containers paying £7.50 for 1st 45hrs and £10.50 O / T and im mulling it over atm weather I should take it, as its only delivering the goods to the customer, (night man brings the box up to yard from docks)
however I`m becoming acustomed to life as an agy man with the flexibiity et al
