Is it any wonder we all get a bad name?

Skip to 1:50 for the clip I’m on about.

One foot up on the dash, and texting in the middle lane of a motorway. Hopefully, considering the footage is from the cab he lost his job over this. How can any truck driver think it’s acceptable?

It’s a rant, but it really ■■■■■■ me off.

If anyone’s able to embed the video, thanks!

Why you angry?
I’m not angry,it’s nothing to do with me.

A link to the exact part of the video mentioned

I’m not angry either, but if he hasn’t already I hope the fool loses his HGV licence.

If I got angry about everything I’d be a very angry man, that would have a detrimental effect on my life and those I care about,I’d rather distance myself from getting angry about another HGV driver being a clown much the same as the countless clips of YouTube of car/bus/motorbike/cyclists,imagine if the whole world got angry about every single clip out there, the world would implode with anger.
Also I hate to be picky but it looks like they are in a 7.5t road works vehicle so as you can drive one on a car licence,or could,it’s technically not a “professional driver” so should he still be entitled to all our anger?

It does show what an idiot he is, bad enough driving like he does, but knowing hes being filmed doing it shows hes a total moron or even worse imo, that he probably thinks he isnt doing anything wrong.
When you view some of these types of videos though what really bothers me is the people iwho cause the accidents actally believe the other poor sod was in the wrong.
The guy barreling out into the roundabout in the white car is a typical example. Waving his arms about as if he was blameless!

Not looked at the video but from the description of his actions , it could well be the Bidvest driver I saw on the M40 . :unamused:

You can drive a 7.5t road works vehicle on a car licence, can you ? :astonished:

If you your car test passed before 1996 yes, providing of course you have also now done your CpC hrs.

IIRC they’re classed as ‘plant/equipment’, even the big tar/line painting/coneworks ‘trucks’ - no Class 2 / C1 license required, can be driven on an ordinary B (car) license. Could be wrong right enough.

Edit: Aye, page 3 of this: gov.uk/government/uploads/s … 210715.pdf

“Any road construction vehicles used or kept on the road for carrying built-in road construction machinery (with or without the materials used by that machinery).”

Highlights for me,were the determined fiesta driver and the s######g peugeot.

Are you referring to the fact that if you passed the car test before 1997 you automatically have cat C1 on your licence ?

If that’s what you mean it’s not really a car licence, it’s cat C1 entitlement

Yes I agree, if the vehicle is classed as plant, ie a vehicle that’s only purpose is to carry specialised equipment used in road construction it can be driven on a car licence.

That doesn’t excuse the fools driving though :grimacing:

And people wonder why employers are fitting cctv in the cab…
