Is It An Age Thing

Been looking to change employers for a while now but I find myself increasingly looking at the terms and conditions such as pensions insurance and sick pay as opposed to the salary or hourly rate , maybe its just as you get older you realise your not invincible and you may need the security that these things give you and why is it most company’s when posting job opportunity’s don’t mention these things , incidentally I have never been off long term from work before anyone says because they don’t want to attract people who would abuse sick pay

I’d imagine that adverts could be on a pay per word basis, or failing that I think that maybe prospective employers reckon that those sort of questions are reserved for interview time.

I do agree with you to an extent and think that if they included the fact that their pension, sick pay etc was crap it would save some from wasting their time applying in the first place.

I think its all about how intelligent you are and how aware you are of how things work within UK PLC.
If youre aware about pensions and raising the age of retirement etc you would automatically plan for the future. Anyone with no interest in politics wouldnt be in the slightest bit interested in this. These peoole tend to live in the here and now and are most likely to love hand to mouth and have no savings.
Ive had a pension fund since i was 19. To be honest, if it wasnt set up by my employer at the time i probably wouldnt have bothered. With my current job, one of the first things I did was to increase my pension contribution above the minimum level.

I was paying into a voluntary scheme for a few years before I was redundant and then went to work for the NHS. The NHS allowed me to ‘buy years’ as a way of transferring the pension, and that was probably the best financial decision I ever made.
