Is cpc really needed or detrimental to driving?

Hi guys and girls.

So i passed my test on the 9th of this month just checked the dvla website and nothing about cat c !!

Thought I’d give the dvla a quick call see if it is being possessed seeing as the nearest date I can find for module 2 is the 30th of sept and I have to travel 40 miles for that so rightly so booked it while I can.

■■■■■■■ the phone said seeing as the kept my licence at she would have thought it would have been sent electronically.

So going off the waiting time for available dates for mod 2 an 4 how in the hell can the government think it’s quite ok to pass your test after possibly only 20 hours ( including your test) less for some schools and then have to endure between 6-8 week wait before you can get out and drive ? ( providing you pass both first time )

Personally I think what little you learned on your training gradually has the potential to be lost in that period and as such has potential to make some more a rusk on the road.

Surely it’s better to get back behind the wheel ASAP not after several months of red tape from a safety point of view ? The proffesional driver training to promote safety has become detrimental? Anyone disagree ?

Dont know why you didn’t you do your Mod 2 with your Multiple Choice and Hazard Perception and then Mod 4 with your practical. That is the logical way to do it rather than blame the system for the delay now.

In fairness, the cpc is not widely understood and so these things do happen more often than they should. Its a pity, but all the best with it and your new career.

The only people who will tell you the CPC is if any way useful is those making money from running the courses.

Had I been advised to do so mate trust me I would have but I was under the impression reading the government website that you do theory and HP tgenod 3 practical then mod 2 then mod 4 they should really change the format on the web page :frowning:

I bet you wished you asked here before starting the process

Had a look through the gov website again, the page after saying about mod 3 does state you can do it as soon as you have your provisional !! Schoolboy error I guess :open_mouth:

off to write a hundred times on a blackboard … I must read the description thoroughly !!

Also for anyone coming behind me you can also do mod 4 before lessons a guy done his mod 4 the same day I passed my test.

My rant still stands that it us unacceptable for the dvsa test centre to have not processed my result electronically 9 days after my pass, if I don’t get my licence within the 21 days I lose my fee and end up another four weeks behind :frowning:

To be honest you should be blaming your training provider - they should have advised you and sorted it all out.

In what way we’re they good if they didn’t sort out the CPC or advise accordingly? Sounds like they’ve done half a job to me.

I found them to be good in the way I was quivering wreck for the first hour every morning for the first three days but they managed to get me through my test first time.

They had a cpc mod 4 test early on the morning of my test meaning the truck I was using all week would be required so I was given the option to get in early and do the drive to test centre giving me an extra hour getting there and an extra hour and half after the Tet was completed.

In all it resulted in me getting g two and a half hours free training before my test and that second hour and half was invaluable brushing up on some of the corners and roundabouts I’d struggled with all week.

To be quite honest I think they asked me if I had done my mod 2 before lessons and I presumed that was hazard perception so said yes.
