Is Class 1 easier to pass than Class 2?

Hi all

When I passed my class 2(12 months ago),my trainer told me that it would be easier to pass the class 1 test.

I would assume this is because you have already demonstrated the required skills to drive a truck?? I have just booked my first 4 hours lesson for next Monday. Any thoughts? cheers

same width just a bit longer an it bends … depends if you doing artic or W&D
You already have the basics.
You just have to learn about what’s behind you as they say in panto

I guess if your doing the class one using a wag & drag it will prob seem easy enough because you have already learnt all the gears etc and got confident in the class 2. Even better if it was the same truck you did the cat c in just with trailer.

In addition to the CAT C requirements you have to reverse with the trailer, uncouple it and recouple. Driving forwards is not much harder if you use w+d. Bit harder again if you are in artic.

On the upside, you only drive for 50 minutes as opposed to 60 for a CAT C. And you only have 2 safety questions instead of 5.

I think your trainer probably meant that you have already been through the testing system so you know, pretty well, what’s coming.

The important thing is to concentrate on the job in hand, enjoy and get the test passed.

Fire away with any questions.

All the best with it, Pete

Thanks all

Ive opted for an artic instead of a dolly. My theory is that 90% of the jobs available seem to be artics. Ive noticed a fair few dolly’s used by Stobarts and I agree with mattni- I expect to find WnD less of a challenge.

The logic makes sense. Provided you have a good trainer and a good vehicle you should have no problem if you work at it.

All the best, Pete

No, but by the time you get onto Class 1 you should have a better idea of certain things.
