Is carrying spare bulbs a legal requirement?

We always carry a full set of spare bulbs in our lorries but is it actually a legal requirement ?

No.

Not in this country.

Thanks for the prompt replies ! I thought it was not but i had a disagreement with a fitter who was banging the drum about it being a legal requirement to carry a full set of bulbs. I have searched everywhere to try & find the legal statute on it but cant find it anywhere

Yep, if it was a legal requirement you would have found it. Vehicles travelling to the continent need to carry bulbs as it is a legal requirement in some countries over there.

i have heard that from 2017 we have to do a 45hr course so we can be fully professional light-bulb changers of course
this will be part of the pre assessment for any job you apply for :grimacing:

Will any of those hours count towards our CPC?

No.

I got fined for no bulbs in Holland, I only had Daffodil bulbs on me.

CPC is also to be extended after September 2019, to 70 hours. Courses to be available on the correct use of a Tang Wave, and how to have an unplanned night out.

you forgot to include hooking up the peekabooo curtains to be able to phone without the distraction of having to watch for plod coming.coupled with the ten top choices of satnav, wheres the best places to hide your gentlemans sock, and whats the best pish bottle to carry.

I can’t wait, we never covered any of those essentials on mine last time. I’m off to book up this minute.

Coffee - out of interest with regard to the whole European thing, what happens if all your lights are LED? On some of the newest trucks, the only “bulbs” are the headlights. Presumably if I was off on a jaunt to France I would only need a spare headlight bulb?
