Mike, av just seen ya post coming down from Stranraer there, now Ive come of the boat there many times and they are nuts, its whacky races, but they all have Northern Irish Plates, I dont think you will get many form the south coming via Stranraer now.
Speakin of Nolans, Im researching my family history and one side of my family are Nolans from Scotland Road in Liverpool, they came from Wexford in Ireland, where does Nolan Transport come from ? New Ross, Wexford, Ireland, I could be related !!! But I aint no knacker now !

Complete lunatics most of them. I said it before, i braked when one was on my back doors on the M6, the guy nearly went through the central reservation. More should do it to them.
If you are serious, then you are a mug and you need your head testing Mike . As you are on the M6, why not just let him past? As you are so proud that he “nearly went through the central reservation”, perhaps you should try to explain that pride to the families of the traffic he smashes into when he goes through the barrier and kills innocent people coming the other way going about their business .
Nice one, fair play to you for ‘making your stand’, you should be a Policeman or something.
I posted it at the time. It was about midnight, i was exiting (taking the slip lane) from the M6 to the M6 just where the seperation for the southbound toll occurs. I was going faster than the rigid in front of me and i waited behind him. We where then in the one lane where it singles out, approaching at a rate of knots was a Barline Transport truck. He never held back at all and landed himself promptly on my back doors , ‘twitching’ out to the offside to see whats in front of me, not like he never knew anyway as there was only the three of us on the road (well, in view anyway). As the road opened up into two lanes the rigid moved over to the left and Barline Transport drew closer up my arse, at a guess i’d say he was less than two feet away from me and i was flat out at 56mph passing the rigid with ease, i had held no one up. I touched my brake as i wasn’t comfortable being pushed like that by him , he was too close and [zb] himself. he shot to the outside lane and leant on his airhorn and if he would of hit the central reservation or gone through it then he would of had a steep climb as it is the part where the motorway elevates (in the same direction as we where going). If that rigid had had a problem and i really had to stop, my thoughts where not for some ficticious people on the other side of the carriageway, they where with me, because if i did have to stop he would of shunted me right into it. Get things into perspective and let people take responsability for their own actions. All i done was to flash a brake light. All he did was to speed, try to bully another driver and found out he couldn’t stop.
I have my Jim Carey head on tonight (in Liar Liar) where i just can’t stop telling the truth! If he would of hit the reservation and buried himself in the embankment i would of not hit a brake nor lifted the phone out the cradle to call anyone. Hows that?
Is this sort of behaviour acceptable only at certain times and on certain roads then? If he is two foot off your back door, why not back off? He can’t get much closer to you can he? By backing off, you will gain distance between the two of you and the rigid vehicle you were near. If he is that close and you brake, he will be getting a lot closer, a lot quicker than if you just roll off the gas a little.
Your orginal statement, where you bragged about nearly sending him through the central reservation would suggest that it is you that needs to think about your own actions more carefully. And encouraging others to do it isn’t very responsbile either is it?

The rigid was on my left hand side i was passing it, and quickly. I took your advice and backed off. The guy behind me just could back off in time.

I didn’t send him nearly through it, he done that himself. If he can’t control his vehicle when someone in front of him brakes then he’s to close . He not me. We all know the perils of driving a couple of feet off someones rear end don’t we? Or have we evolved that far along the motoring scale that this sort of behavior is acceptable and should even be catered for?

If we know the perils of following too close, why brake and make a bad situation even worse? I’m not arguing that it is frustrating, frightening and extremely dangerous what the Irishman did but unfortunately you do have to cater for that sort of behaviour. However, I am not suggesting it is in any way acceptable though.
Don’t get me wrong I share your frustrations and anger at this sort of behaviour. I find it pretty scary at times on the M-Way and I like to plod along at 52, rather than whack it on the limiter. Trucks tailgating needs to be stopped but I see no real way of avoiding it due to the lack of road space, everybody limited to the same speed and size of the vehicles being driven.

You’re right. 99.99% of the time i just drive carefully, defensively and aviod all that type malarkey but i’m only human and sometimes you just think, no, enough is enough i’m not having it.

I don’t blame you for cracking, I don’t do a huge amount of M-Way work but when I do I am always glad to get off em’ safely. The main reason I feel like that is morons like the Irishman you describe treating it like PlayStation rather than real life.
nobody likes being tailgated wherever your from, but jammin on is a low act.over her we move over and let em on,if they cant get buy then they,ll sit behind like a lamb.easy.
Personally, if I am unhappy being tailgated, I slow down even more. Has one of two effects - they either get around and out of my way, or eventually cotton on and pack it in. The “offishul” reason for doing this is that it gives me a greater distance of clear road between me and the vehicle in front in case our offending idiot does go into the back of me…He has further to push me before I hit something myself as a result of his stupidity.
i can’t really argue with that as i wouldnt know the english drivers perspective on it, but having travelled with my own father many years ago i can vouch for him and the drivers that he ran with they were very safe, skilled drivers.
i have a serious concern about northern irish drivers driving in the south, i have a house on one of the smaller roads just off the main dublin - derry route that they use as a rat run, and ive seen some very very dicey stuff by those boys.
Was on Swansea services on Wednesday taking my break and then fueling up. Saw about 10 Nolan’s transport wagons there. Didn’t think much of that except how young all the drivers looked… Anyway went off did a few more drops around Swansea and then onto Bridgend. I was as dying for a pee so went onto Sarn services to use the facilities. The same 10 or so wagons I saw at Swansea were all now neatly parked here. Only moved 20 miles in 3 hours? Whats going on? Do they only have one map between them? And so they were they waiting for one to do a drop in Bridgend area?
Later I was making my way home they went past me at about 69mph, all fully freighted judging by the bulge in the tyres, and all about 10 feet behind each other. Not sure if first wagon was towing rest or last pushing the 9 in front. Whats going on?
