Irish drivers

switchlogic:
You just have to ask yourself why if it’s so bad so many Brits like me have spent most of our careers working for Irish companies. Find the right one and it’ll be better than almost any job you can find in the UK.

…find the right one…there are also a lot of wrong ones, both sides the sea.

From my short experience, I’ve never overtaken an Irish wagon, they always breeze past me lol. Also, I’ve only come across one really impatient Irish driver who executed a dangerous manoeuvre just so he didn’t have to come off the limiter. The rest have always given plenty of room and always been polite. The few that I’ve spoken to have been nice chaps.

There are, but it’s a lot easier to find the right one in Ireland. Nowadays there’s not that many bad apples and most of them are well known.

Ref-Going around the back lanes to avoid the Vosa check point it may r
be the low bridge to avoid if you have a high trailer.

I think the term is “keep her lit!!”

bald bloke:
All the Irish fridge drivers we get in our place are always well turned out in checked shirts, jeans and nice shoes so keep up your appearance. :sunglasses:

And don’t forget to load 24 tonnes of sheet steel on the floor after you’ve collected the hanging meat.

Other way round Harry.

Well i’m of the opinion that it is. If i was single i would try and give Euro work where you’re away for a couple of weeks at a time a go but I’m not so i won’t.

I should have said In my opinion it isn’t a single mans (or lady’s) game.
Just out of curiosity, why are you of the opinion that you need to be single to do a job that require’s you to be away for a couple of weeks at a time? Is it family based or your own wishes?
I’m not single, have 3 almost grown up kid’s, and can/will spend anywhere from 1 day to 12 months a year away at a time, the longest in one stint being 7 months, in a previous general haulage job it was 6 weeks. I look at it as this is what i do.
I’m not saying I’m right or your wrong, just curious to see how another driver thinks.

If you’re single then you have no ties at home to distract you, away all week Monday to Friday fair enough but i don’t think it would be fair on my missus to be away for longer.

To be honest i have found Stobart drivers to be very untidy and scruffy.A few have been well turned out with clean uniform and shaved the same day.
But for the rest i have seen dirty and worn out hi viz, uniform with their own clothing added.
Nothing matches up.Belts hanging out.Looking not clean or had a wash in a week.Scruffy old boots. And not healthy in appearance.Salad dodgers.
