Will you be living over here? - reason I ask is your DCPC card is sent to your Driving License address - i believe and the DCPC is supposed to be an EU reg, and has been rolled out accross the EU simultaneously.
Anyway - you will be so fed up of the roads in the UK, the pay, and the high cost of living you will be back in Ireland before Sept 2014
Sounds like you need to complete the 35 hours then apply for your card.
Foreign licence holders
If you hold another member state or third country licence and have completed some or all of your training in the UK you can obtain a DQC by completing a DQC1 application form. This is available from customer.services@dsa.gsi.gov.uk or by telephoning Tel 0300 200 1122.
I actually live in France and now have a French driving licence (After swapping my UK licence) but I’m working out of the UK for an English company. Question is - if I do my DCPC here will that count in France or am I going to have to do the FCOS in France and if I do that, will it count here in the UK?

Ta very much
Hi Barney , the answer to your question is quite simply , yes
It is valid in France. There’s a driver who lives in the south west of France who is often on here (Craig) who is doing exactly that, working for a French company with a UK licence and CPC done in England.
I have heard conflicting stories, some say that the licence and driver CPC must be from the same country, you mentioned that you have changed your licence for a French one
By the way what part of France do you live in, seems like we both do the same, couple of weeks UK , then home for a bit ?
I also live in France, so far I’ve been working for British companies that like to run across the water (not a fan of British roads any more), I gave up applying for jobs with French operators because they’re obsessed with the FCOS/FIMO and seem to believe that only FCOS/FIMO is valid (i.e. DCPC isn’t valid).
So, are you guys saying that I’ve been valid all along?

If you’ve got the DCPC card you’ll be okay to work in France, as FCOS is now under the same EU directive that also covers the UK DCPC.
As Pierrot said above, I have a UK license and DCPC and have had no probs getting work. As for taking the UK DCPC with a French license I reckon you’d better ring the Brit authorities; like the man up in Normandy correctly points out, there’s been some discussion about the legality of a license and DCPC issued in different countries, I can’t tell you the answer to that, sorry.
Some of the bigger firms do FCOS training in-house: TSA in dept 62 does and when I spoke to them about a job a few years back it wouldn’t have been a problem providing one had a decent attitude and suitable experience.
