Fatboy slimslow:
Of course, we have Mr Ronald Reagan and Mrs Margaret Thatcher to thank for that, tireless fighters for the right of eastern Europeans to be able to travel to western Europe. And undercut our wages by 66%.Thanks Maggie!
I wonder if he ever slipped her the bone■■? WOOF WOOF!
Why ask the question on here? surely this is an infringement of your human rights, an invasion of privacy. Taxi drivers in oxford have refused to install cameras in thier cabs because of this reason.
Just say NO! It’s time to start playing the brinkmanship game with bosses, time to stand up and be counted. Don’t know how many drivers work for your company, but you ALL need to tell them to do one!
As said many times on here, it’s about time drivers grew some backbone and started saying NO to all these ridiculous rules and regulations, these spying games they play. Truth is it is just another way for bosses to shift the blame onto you for accidents etc.
Personaaly, If i knew there was a camera watching me, I would be as objectuionable as possible without doing anything illegal, for instance pick my nose constantly, scratch my balls, make out I’m constantly ■■■■■■■, where false thick lensed glasses and a moustache, wear a Tshirt only while I’m driving that says f*** You! on it, or maybe “what you looking at saddo?”

I believe on national express and some buses they have cameras pointed at the drivers cab. Trams have a glass partition so the driver can be seen but train cabs are sealed off
I would most certainly Not want an inward facing camera in my cab. This to me is a definate invasion of privacy. I don’t think that many people could work to there best capabilities with the thought of ‘eyes’ constantly watching their every move, which is possible it may even result to indirectly causing accidents. so either way its perhaps better to bin that idea of putting cameras inward facing in cabs!
My old firm had a camera that faced inside and outside the cab. It’s made by smart drive. What is does is, it constantly records and deletes itself. Your manager cannot watch a live stream of you or watch the whole of your shift at a later date. The camera has a panic button you press which keeps 15 seconds before and after you press it, so a 30 second clip.
It is also sensitive so if you break sharply, take a roundabout too fast it will automatically keep those clips. A red light flashes so you know its being recorded and saved and can be viewed later.
If you work for a fairly large firm I wouldn’t worry too much. If it goes 5 times in your shift that’s 2 1/2 mins of footage each driver, but if there’s 40+ drivers days and nights It’s too much for someone to watch all of it.
I used to still smoke and never got caught, I would wait till I was on a motorway the camera never went of then.

From what I remember of EU empoyment laws it is ilegal for companies to film employees for discaplinary action. Therefore such a device would be very much ilegal.
No way would I ever drive any truck with a camera watching me … EVER
But alot of folk me included dont sleep with the curtains covering the bed closed,
nothing a bit of black tape cant sort anyway. but as has been said i fi had to drive one with a camera i would be so vile they wouldnt want to watch me

If you dont have anything bad to hide then i dont know why you need to worry about these cameras.
We used to say that Communism was an evil thing, and one of the reasons most often cited was the excessive state surveillance, including the recording of activities of its citizens.
Perhaps we should now apologise for that stance on the grounds that “if eastern European subjects had nothing to hide, they had nothing to fear”.
Stalin or Honecker could not have dreamt about surveillance on the level that exists in the UK now. Please don’t sleepwalk into accepting it as normal. Nobody driving a truck should have his every working minute monitored.

Unless your currently doing something wrong or illegal and by installing these cameras you would get caught out.
They are installed in the vans and.work and dont distract me or worry me just leave the equipment to get on with its job.
With regards to sleeping with a camera.
Surely truck curtains will cover the camera up when you are sleeping.
I dont see why everyone is worrying?!?!?!?
Why have a camera facing your drivers if you trust them note the word trust after all we the humble drivers trust the employer to pay us in full each month/week do we not, ?
If i got in a truck that i was going to be away for days or weeks even, and found a driver facing camera, it would be swiftly rendered useless or i would refuse to drive the vehicle on privacy grounds,
Curtains in most trucks do not cover the bunk, only the side and front windows no more, but even if they did have the optional middle curtains it would be too hot to sleep as they seriously restrict ventilation of the bunk area, WE should fight this move all the way tooth and nail otherwise were all f**** 1984 style, this bs has to stop , as for hiding something, or doing something illegal ? swallox , that mindset is exactly what they what you to think or preach,
again thatchers legacy ideals are to blame for all this bs, she made the unions powerless, so we the workers are ■■■■■■ well &truly ■■■■■■ thanks thatcher/major/ect

Can’t believe I read that. It’s not a case of " worrying " I simply don’t want somebody watching me whilst I drive.
Yes I pick my nose , yes I scratch my arse and I drive with my trouser belt undone and sometimes god forbid I yawn and rub my eyes. I do not want somebody watching all that and do not want a disciplinary for driving tired when all did was yawn. Ok it may not be such an issue on short journey work but on distance ? No ! Not for me.

Would you object if you had to have a camera in your house then? In every room? Watching your every move? If you aren’t doing anything wrong…what’s the problem?

Van driver say no more!!! You obv never had to ‘live’ in a unit the curtains go round the window to start with.
Tell you what let’s put a cam in everyroom in your house and see how you feel for thease guys its not just a truck its their bedroom livingroom kitchen and dinning room for some months at a time not just a quick sprint down the motorway and home for tea

My personal view is outward ok inward facing get lost and find someone else who’s been brain washed
I agree. In fact outward is a good idea, then nobody can accuse you of driving dangerously or causing an accident that wasn’t your fault. Our newer model trucks have outward facing cameras, including mine, everything is supposedly recorded on a constant loop in Iowa and it has saved a few drivers getting the elbow for things he didn’t do. Then again ! … it only works when it is actually in use and from what I am told it is deactivated a lot of the time.
