What sort of inverter should i be looking to get if i wanted to use a cheap microwave. Seen a cheap one in tesco that i think it said was 650w also can i just use crocodile clips or does it have to be wired in. If i can just use clips do you just run them out of the door. Havent got a clue about any of this. Just want to use a kettle, laptop, microwave and fridge/coolbox. Obviously not at the same time.
Get one of at least 1500w if you want to run a microwave like that. Even though it says 650 watts, that’s the cooking power, it’s probably drawing something like 1300 watts to operate. Do NOT use crocodile clips to operate it, get it wired in properly, either at the back of the fuse box where the cables connect from the batteries or from the batteries themselves. It’s worth remembering that even though it’s an inverter it’s still producing 240 volts. So would you use a microwave at home with crocodile clips connected to your socket? Don’t think you would somehow! Also for a laptop you may be better off with a Pure Sine Wave inverter rather than a Modified Sine Wave one as some laptops don’t like the modified wave.
Do a search on the site, there’s lots of threads about inverters and microwaves etc.
