Erm, you can’t run a normal house kettle unless you’ve got a massive inverter wired straight to the battery, and even then I wouldn’t do it. Most house kettles use about 2000-3000watts! Use a 12v travel kettle or a stove.

TLC sell inverters for about £20 24v 300w with a good 600w surge supply. Otherwise Aldi do 300w inverters (12v only) which are very good and about £15, these are not the cylindrical ones they do, they’re only 150w and not great.

Fridge - your better with a 24v one, its a much more efficient motor, so on for a shorter time and less noise. I don’t know how much power a 240v one draws, so can’t suggest a suitable size of inverter. A good rule of thumb is, buy an inverter with output of at least 1.5 times the power you require

Kettle - these draw a lot of power, so you’ll need a big inverter and it’s quite likely to draw more than a ■■■ lighter sockets wires can handle. Again, your probably better off with a good 24v one.

Laptop - a 300w inverter will be more than enough to run a laptop, but if you go to Germany and have a MAUT box fitted, they’re no good.
Your better off with either a dedicated 12/24v power supply for your laptop from http://www.laptop-chargers.co.uk/ or one of those 12v or 24v universal ones (with lots of settings and power input jacks) you can get from Maplins etc.

IMHO obviously

simon i have one of those universal 12v laptop power suplies and it works a treat leave it plugged in and never had a problem with it, only 19quid if i remember right,

as for fridge and kettle, better off with a whistle kettle and gas ring(oww err) and as was said 24v fridge. but for a decent one your looking at £100 plus
