Inverter question (yes, another one!)

At the moment I’ve got my fridge plugged into the 12v socket in my truck. This morning the battery was almost flat the fridge was unplugged last night.
Now, I’d like to get a games console and TV hooked up in my truck so I’d be getting an inverter anyway.

Toooo much choice!!

I’m no expert on electronics but I know that whatever inverter I get the wattage has to be greater than what I’ve got plugged into it.

My question is really what is the best one to get that’s not going to drain the batteries? One that plugs into the 12 or 24v socket or one that wires direct to the batteries?

Get a 24 volt one, the 12 volt socket is going through a dropper so would be straining to power a lot of things, like your fridge!

sounds like the cold has got to a faulty battery, possibly a faulty cell in one of the batteries causing it to go flat like that, I can run a 600 watt 24v inverter and my fridge with the night heater on all night and not flatten the batteries :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses: :sunglasses:

You will get a drain on your batteries no matter which method you use!

If you can’t keep a cool box going then you better get some jump leads if you’re thinking of running a tv and console as well!

As for the best way, well surely that is obvious? Look at the electrical system on the lorry, does it employ flimsy cigarette lighter type connections? No, so if you’re fitting something it should be done properly with solid connections.

You are connecting to a 24v system, so you should get a 24v inverter.

If a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing properly :bulb:
