Pulled in to do a full load drop and collection. Never been to this particular place before.
Asked where they wanted the lorry and the forkie/warehouse guy pointed and said ‘Over there, please, drive.’
Parked up where indicated, gets out and starts opening the curtains. Opens one side and realises that I can’t see the forkie; look round and see him, in the entrance to the warehouse, sitting on the FL and waiting patiently for me to finish.
Finished opening then nods to forkie who replies, ‘Thank you, drive.’
He finishes one side then, again, waits patiently out of the road while I pull the other curtain.
Once unloaded he politely pulls me to one side and says ‘That’s your load. How do you want them on?’
‘Any idea on weights, mate?’,
‘Yep, drive… …’ he then proceeds to reel off a list of the approximate weights.
When done he proceeds to put all the pallets on, in the order I asked and where asked, without even a by your leave.
All the way through, the Forkie was nice, polite, helpful and a pro; not once did he even touch the trailer! . Common sense and (mutual) respect that you knew what you were doing were the order of the day and there was no unnecessary H&S bovine excrement.
How the h#ll are we supposed to work under these conditions?
