Well, i have just been contacted from a company in Gainsborough and i have my first interview for a full time class one job on Saturday
Slightly nervous as i have never had an interview in my life !!!
I have my list of questions for them as i read somewhere on here the other day to find the in and outs of the cats arse about what i will be doing.Such as pensions, pay, own motor, tramping etc etc !
My only question for you lot is…If i was to get offered the job, is it worthwhile holding out for a few weeks depending on a start date to see what else comes in, if anything, or just get on with it ? As i currently have cv’s out with other companys, and am not sure weather to take the first thing offered.
The way thing are atm I would go for it if offered as there is not much about
If offered another job have a look see what they are offering you but remember the grass not alway greener on other side
I have CV in quite a few places also been out to see company wrote letters filled application forms waiting to here form all but 1 that is pending a few things
Take that job as you tend to find work when you are in work when you bump in to other drivers in a truckstop or RDC canteen that may say they know of a job going.
If you get a better offer with other companies you can always leave.
Find out what kind of work they do whether to dress up in a suit or go to the interview in work boots and casual work wear in case you asked to drop and hook up to a trailer and go on a road test around the block, pack both in the car just in case.
They may get you working the same day.

That’s what the interview is for - see what’s on offer.
I’m sure there’s a low bridge on one approach to Gainsborough.
If so, make sure you know the height of it and where it is and tell them:
“I know about the ■■ foot ■■ inch bridge down the road at xxxxxx, are there any
others in the area that I need to know about?”

All the interviews I’ve had for driving have consisted of a drive and a few questions, pretty simple really. Some may give you a test on Tacho, WTD stuff.
If you are offered the job take it, nothing is guaranteed on the cv front. Just ask if there is a trial period, sometimes it’s 3 months to see how they like you. Good luck.

If they do the test driver and pre trip checks, make sure to test the horn, wipers and see if there is enough windscreen wash in the bottle,a quick glance to see if the truck is taxed and the truck has a valid O licence will impress them too.
Adjust the suspension on the unit to match the trailer height so not reverse in to the trailer too high or too low.
Google the firm and write down some notes about them to show you have taken an interest in their activites.
Go on the Vosa website to see how many units and trailers there are on the applications, or if they have had a licence revoked or suspended for being a bit naughty in the past.

‘Woop woop’, wtf…■■?
Its what the cool kids do…apparently
Are you a kid then
@ Animal, After sitting in Tesco Goole RDC last week, i felt like i was the youngest driver in there, by about 30 years So in answer to your question…Yes
@ Trev H, 14’ 2" I believe…so its got potential
Thanks for the heads up peeps, I will let you know how i get on !
It’s signed 14’ on a mandatory sign, 14’ 2" will go under it for sure but you can still be done for it and it wouldn’t be the right answer in a job interview
