Interview this week advice please

I have a interview this week and wanted to get advice from people who would be in the know on what to expect been a while sense i worked in the transport industry 15 years and i think alot seems to have changed bar the money side. This transport company say that do alot of high value goods and pharmaceuticals e.t.c delivery though out the uk and into Europe they seem to have really nice kit and pay poor money £50 per day plus £40 night out and bonus this is the same for a Mercedes sprinter upto a 18 tonne. They have told me they do alot of double manning not very keen on that they also want to do a crb check as i have a little bit of history with the court in my youth 25 years ago but nothing that effects me driving a van or truck just see why they need know my mistakes from my youth so in my interview i have to tell them no to CRB and also tell them that not keen on double manning for 2 - 3 weeks at a time. I,m not desperate for this job but i would think i could enjoy it what advice would you give me for the interview :exclamation:

You’ve probably answered your own question deck

And your going for this job because

IMHO, once you say no to a crb and say no to double manning for that amount of time I wouldn’t even bother taking my coat off.
Also that money sounds gash for what they want out of you pal.
Stay at home and watch jezza Kyle till something better comes up

If the offence is over 5 years old it will not matter.

Yeah i guess so how ever i like working and want to get back driving been doing a management role for last 12 years and sick of it now money was good with short days. Im not sure of the going rate for a driver of any type of vehicle any more and not sure of what type of person would do this job i dont think there would be many as it has a lot of down sides, so in my mind they the company would not have a que to there door wanting these jobs or would they not have to advertise in the job center in my view beggers can,t be choosers what do you think

Fair enough but I’m sure there’s better paid out there for much less faffing about.

Is this firm based in Reading with a silver fleet?
If the job is double team driving to Europe,it will be driving all day and all night.
The law allows longer working times for two drivers. There are clashes with the other driver if you do not get on with him or her.
The Crb is what their clients have requested.
I would take the job,see Europe for free.

For the interview a tidy suit and pack work clothes in case they ask for a test drive.
Research facts and figures about the firm to quote in the interview. This shows an interest in them.
The pay seems low,but you may enjoy the job.

Double manning is ok if they put you with someone you really get along with. If they put you with someone you don’t get along with then 2 to 3 weeks would be absolute purgatory for you.

Personally I don’t ‘do’ crb checks. They can find out about you without crb checks. License tells them how long you have been driving and where you live. They can do credit check on you without your permission. They can research on net about outfits you have driven for in the past etc.

I could not do double manning unless it was with a mate and/or somebody that I knew that I liked, (or unless she was mega fit of course  ) but a stranger certainly NOT!
Being a complete arsey arrogant ■■■■■■■ that I am I would get ■■■■■■ off as soon as, and end up dropping him off somewhere near the Ardennes with a boot up his arse:D
Apart from that the money is ■■■■ poor in proportion for the rate for Euro pharmaceuticals, so the boss doesn’t exactly value his drivers does he?
The words touch & bargepole spring to mind mate :bulb:

Not sure where your based but alpha are looking for driver airplane loaders in Mcr, paying £8:21 to £9:43 per hr for 40 hrs week maybe worth a look if your based this way

I think this is my point this company want the world of who they employ CRBs 5 YEAR record of employment checks and double manning for peanuts away 2-3 weeks at a time. My view is if you want the best people in your bussiness you pay good money pay peanuts get monkeys. Im not a monkey but this job would suit me to finance my hgv licences i know how to talk to people and am hard working do you think they would have many people wanting to do this type of work for this money :unamused:

£90 a day to double man and night out…do don’t be daft mate, tell them where to go.

i know it is ■■■■ but im only going to do it so i can fund my licences and not use savings needs must and it suits for the short term not long term. just think they want alot from me info e.t.c anddont want to pay the money

It’s upto you mate, its not something I’d do, even if I was single. Wouldn’t be too bad if you knew the man your doubling up with I suppose.

£40 won’t last long in a bag house either    to

I don,t think many drivers would do it as you say.My children have all grown up now and i,m going to try and get in one of the sprinters as they are not double manning but properly would mean being on the road mad hours the money side of things are not that important as the wife is the bread winner in my house, could stay at home and doss if i really wanted to but like to be busy have some offers and choices to make once tests passed but need to be doing some thing

Yeh ok, but needing to do something is different to needing to do anything, even if you do not need a lot of money why work for some ■■■■■■ who is exploiting you when you can work for somebody that pays average to better. This is why these arse holes advertise these crap jobs for, because they know there is ALWAYS somebody naive and stupid enough to accept them for one reason or another.
(no offence intended by the way  )

and we all wonder why the wages are schite :imp:

No mate, we all KNOW why the wages are…“schite” :bulb:
