Interview / assessment at Bibby Distribution

hghgh

It wont hurt you to go through drivers hours & tacho stuff to make sure you are well prepared incase of any questions ( youll need to know these anyway) , just keep calm & level headed at the interveiw. Good Luck & come back & tell us how you got on

Good luck mate

From what ive read on other posts the best option is to be prepared as bonnie lass says read up on hours etc i think they will really just want to know that you understand them enough to use tach etc and in the assesment just remain calm if unfamilia veh just ask and show your willing to learn their way enthusiasm i think goes a long way good luck with it and I hope you get it

all the best

Thanks for the info guys, and thanks Dave for moving it for me. Any more help people? got this in the morning and wana impress them!

When you do a walk round check mate, check the wheel nuts and tread depth, when I drove for Bibbys at Bicester Park they were obsessed with them :unamused:,they like you to go steady on the gas too, best of luck, theyre a bloody good firm to work for

Make sure you are up on the Highway code. Started this job in December and was given a sheet with 50 multiple choice questions on it. You don’t pass that, you don’t even get the assessment. Good luck.

When I had my assessment at Bibby’s they just collared the nearest driver to go out with for 10mins.

That should have told me a lot about the place.
To say they couldn’t organise a drinking session in Tadcaster is an understatement like no other.

Thanks for the info, am pretty good on the highway code, got 100% on my theory test. They have told me my assessment is an hour and a half Ben so sounds a bit more thorough than your one, what depot was that just out of interest?

Hi Harlow_wannabe,

It looks like you got some great answers, and just in the nick of time!!

T’net comes up trumps yet again, so thanks to everybody who posted.

Please let us know how the assessment went.

Stoke.

Make sure they explain the banked hours system properly if you can find someone who knows about it.

Harlow Wannabe, what site was your interview at?

The banked hours system is something that isnt used at all sites, but on some sites it is used.

On the site I work for we use banked hours. All staff are contracted for 45 hours work a week. if you work over 45 hours your hours go in the bank for you to use back, if you work under then your hours go in to negative, at the end of the year if the company owes your hours then they roll over to the following year, if you owe the company hours they wipe them off.

If you have hours in the bank the company can decide when you take them back eg if you need time off for the WTD or if there isnt any work on or you can ask for the hours back like a holiday request.

It depends how you look at the system really as to whether you like it or not. At our site it works well.

Any news on the job yet?

Good on you. As for tips now, well you should get plenty of training on tacho’s and drivers hours from your new employer but if your finding anything at all difficult then come back and someone will help you as you’ve already found out. Just take your time and enjoy yourself.
All the best Harlow wanna be,

Streaky.
