So, following up from a thread I posted a couple of days ago about phoning the man himself, I bit the bullet today in the frame of mind knowing I had nothing to loose but everything to gain…
I explained my situation to him and asked if there was anything he could do for me, and he said that I’ve to go for an interview on Monday the 20th February! If it’s not him it will be the new transport manager that just started and he said even if it’s just a Driver/Laborer job to begin with until something a bit more permanent comes along.
It’s hard not to get excited and build my hopes up but we’ll see how it goes!
Nah nothing yet mate, trying to make a decision to pack a job of 5 years in and just put 100% of my time trying to find something to use my c+e. Wife says go for it but I’m too feart lol.
Scunnered not being able to use my licence
Will give you a heads up if I do bail from there if nothing comes from Bowie mate.

That would be great buddy cheers, and I understand how you feel about packing in the 5 year one. Don’t you have enough time to look for CE jobs while working at present and that’s why you’re thinking of throwing the book at it?
I hope you have done some digging on the company (Google is great innit? ), and will go in there saying you have known all about them for years and was always thinking about trying to get in with them as you admire their success and company image etc etc [enter more ■■■■■■■■ here! ] And now you have got the licence needed you are ready, willing and more than able. Don’t forget to follow that up with some questions that you weren’t able to answer from their company website. It will show that you are genuinely interested in their company and would love to be part of that success, and every manager I’ve ever been interviewed by really like to see this.

All the very best for Monday Sam!
Dad works there so I know a good handful of the people there already, including the guy I’m off to see tomorra haha!
Well I turned up for the interview today and had a good talk with the new ops/transport manager and he gave me an application to fill out and return to him tomorrow. He asked me if I had previously worked for them driving artics I said no, that was my Dad haha.
I’m not really into labouring, i’d rather be taken on as a driver and drivers mate rather than driver/labrourer until something more permanent comes up, but as the way it is these days beggers certainly can’t be choosers.
