i must admit to being a bit of a technophobe(not up to date with technology).
with that in mind,im hoping soon to get my own laptop to take away with me through the week.
so,i"ve heard stories about parking on industrial estates and hacking into companies internets, thats not for me.
what is the cheapest/or/and the best way to get internet access whilst away from home?
m the same, not at all technically minded, i got a dongle(?) from carphone warehouse on t-mobile unlimited internet access and a free laptop £15 a month, on an 18 month cotract. I havent yet been able to not get a signal.
same as kindle mate im quite happy with mine
same here, apart from i got one on Orange
Same but mines on 3G, costs a tenner a month but coverage can be off when your really in the sticks
Im on 3, £15pm for 3gb allowance (Web pages you view) Dont think you’ll ever use the 3gb allowance unless you download music etc… Main hotspots the signal is ggod but when you get into those MIDDLE OF NOWHERE spots like the right North Of Scotland then it goes Pete Tong. ALso 3 is a ■■■■ at getting out there contract if for any reason you wish to terminate early.
Why reg:
Same but mines on 3G, costs a tenner a month but coverage can be off when your really in the sticks
Same here but mines is £15. i find the connection drops after a short while if i’ve got a good connection.
with what i use the internet for a smart phone is enough for me.

You aren’t ‘hacking’ into a company’s internet.
The way I think this works is,
Companies pay an annual fee for internet access, however much it gets used.
They use wireless networks on their premises.
As long as you don’t break their internet use rules, they allow you to use their internet connection, it doesn’t cost them anything. (Usually you can’t use chat rooms, ■■■■ sites or on-line games. Forums would be ok normally).
They could easily secure there network, but don’t. You don’t get access to their computers simply by gaining access to their network and so the internet. Getting into their computers would be hacking.
Personally I’m only away a week at a time, so don’t bother about the internet during the week.
I have a T-mobile dongle for UK use, and one from Vodaphone Germany for use in… erm… germany… Plus occasional use of wifi here and there.
Pretty close Simon, however using some one elses wireless network is an offence and at least one person has been sucessfully prosecuted for it.
However IMHO you would need to be regularly using it and creating a traceable pattern using someone elses wireless to be caught.
Most home owners don’t even lock down their wireless, never mind check the logs on the router.
Any wireless router I’ve ever configured has had the wireless element locked down.
As far as businnesses go some have an unsecured wireless for visitors or guests to use, but in the main thier wireless is locked down. However if you do use it and it is unsecured, their may well be (should be) some sort of internet content filter which will log all internet activity and will of course block the likes of ■■■■, on line games etc.
