International driving

I was just wondering if anybody knows of any companies that would take me on and give me some training doing overseas runs out of the UK. Negatives are I’ve only been driving class 1 around 7 months. Positives are I’m eager and willing to travel and put in the hours. I know it’s not glamorous work it’s just what i wanted to aim for from the start before I even passed my class 2 so just trying to pursue it. Appreciate any help.

Brian Yeardley at Wakefield, European concert work, long haul, away for months.
Rigid or artics.
Em Rogers ltd ,do Italy a lot.
S&K ltd cover Europe .

Nice one cheers!!!

I’d try a rock and roll firm, Transam, Stage Truck etc. If you don’t mind being away for several weeks then you’ll go to some very far-off places.

If your really adventurous you could try a foreign Company. There are a few in Europé that will give a newbie a chance as long as you have the paperwork and are willing

You will need a lot of help if you apply for jobs asking for training and saying you only 7 months experience, most will snap you up if you apply with confidence, you dont need training to drive overseas, your a driver

This. Don’t ask for training, if you can do the job in UK well you can almost certainly do the same in Europe. I got my first euro job by blagging it and working out how to do the job as I went along. Best way to learn imo. Nowadays with the likes of this forum it’s even easier as every answer to every question you need to ask will be here somewhere.

Aint that the truth

Turners do France/Belgium on the powder tanks

Where are you based?

Although at risk of stating the obvious, be sure to check where normally your euro trans co. goes to. General haulage could take you anywhere and you need to be equipped for that, saying you dont want to be away for more than a week could negate your chances of work.As switchlogic says be confident at interview and be willing to go where ever. Get yourself a small stove (camping gaz ) a 12v/24v kettle, 24v fridge ect so youre ready to up and go. Also make sure you have a debit card with a few hundred quid on it for daily living/ emergencies ect. Be as self sufficient as possible and you’ll live relatively cheaply.
Good luck with your hunt for work…

There is a member on here who is highly experienced in the intricacies of International haulage.

Goes by the username of Carryfast…ask him fella. (But give it 10 mins while I nip out for more popcorn).

Yea he once did a booze run in his Allegro to see Dave at Eastenders for a case of shandy …

Try Nolans. They’ll take anybody. Anybody…

And if you apply with a paddy firm, don’t use your own name. Call yourself Piotr Sjamblzjiouski… or shamus mcdonnally…

My mate is on Dixons.
Sounds a decent crack

FTL do France. Portsmouth based, but Ive met a few of their drivers who live 4 or 5 hours away from their depot and do a 2 week trip to cut down on travel time. Mike Beer tippers. OPEX. There are a few around. As Switchlogic says dont emphasise your inexperience, but, Id say dont blag too much or youll soon give the game away. All of us started out green, alhough many of us are going grey now. Good luck. Not everyones “cup o tea” but if you`ve the itch go for it.
