They do not replace a driving licence, and you cannot use one if you do not have a full valid licence. Realistically, their only purpose is to act as a translation of your licence.

but you can use this with your UK licence to drive HGV’s, and coaches in countries that most of us thought you would have needed to pass an additional test. eg: Canada, America, Australia.

Wouldn’t entitle you to drive those vehicles for work purposes though. An International Driving Permit is only for driving private vehicles.

Don’t wish to argue, just accept I’m right.

Thankyou.

No you cannot :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

Recognised internationally, an IDP normally allows the holder to drive a private motor vehicle when accompanied by a valid UK driving licence. (See also important note 2 below)

  1. Persons going to a country to take up residence or employment, or for any reason other than tourism, should make enquiries about their personal position before relying on a permit.

1/10

Must try harder Phillip. Stick to bogus smuggling stories eh chap

why not do a little research on both counts.

  1. smuggling. no charges were brought against me, but you could check the papers, links have been posted in the past.
  2. look at the phrase above “should make enquiries”. often known as a disclaimer.

So all we need to do now is to buy an old yank unit here, take it to the States, rent a trailer when we get there, and using our IDP and British O Licence do a load of work hauling whatever we can find throughout North America and rip the zb out of their rates just like the east europeans do here . :open_mouth:
