Internal trailer straps

Waste of time having them fitted a small bolt attached to a tin roof will not support a ton and a half pallet going through the side of the curtains.

The bolt/pin that pulls and stops the entire loaded trailer doesn’t seem much fatter and they seem to hold up well

They arnt supposed to support a ton and a half pallet. They are there to use on your judgement depending on what load you have… There is no point unreeling 13 10 tonne ratchet straps if you’ve only got double stacked pallets of cardboard on is there, those roof straps will be fine for that.

Not according to the ‘Experts’ at VOSA. I reckon if you get a Mr Jobsworth Vosa stopping you, he will expect that Dangerous Load of Cardboard to be Netted, Sheeted, Roped using Corner Boards, Strapped & Chained inside a Euro Liner with all the boards in place & Reinforced Curtains.

The fact that it will take you 2 days to secure a load that’s only worth £200 doesn’t come into it !

Health & Safety is Paramount !

Think of the Children !

Lol.

Tesco trailers have a lot straps, you have to strap every row of cages.

It was the German B.A.G road enforcement that started all this, over there you can be fined for no safety label on the ratchet strap, it must show the rating information on it.
No tears or cuts on any straps.
The driver, freight forwarder or shipper , and your employer gets a fine, and in some cases make you travel to a place to unload at cost, then put it on again, the charges for a crane or fork lift goes to all three again.
The eastern european firm and driver will not be able to afford all this, it can be thousands of euros, the driver on 1000 euros a month or less.
