Obviousley for the Export Market, & very heavy duty design, a classic British Motor, Regards Larry.

Maybe wrong, but other than the tyres, perhaps millitary spec■■?..

Destined for the M/E perhaps?

The photo looks like it was taken in Birkenhead near A.V. Crutchleys warehouse opposite where Norseman Freight and a steel yard was located.

Central Treaty Organization - Wikipedia

Top detective work Sir+. The plate on the roof suggests it was destined for somewhere hot. Can any ERF experts suggest its year of manufacture?

If not mistaken, CENTO was an Italian engineering firm that specialized in the movement of mining supplies

Maybe someone can offer more

It’s got erf trade plates on outside earls courtlike this one

This model was likely a 66CU220, ERF offered the ■■■■■■■ 220 and 180 as well as the Gardner 6LX in the six wheel tractor of the mid to late Sixties. ERF first used ■■■■■■■ power in 1962. I would imagine as this seems to be an export model that it would have the bigger ■■■■■■■ engine fitted although there seems no evidence of a ■■■■■■■ badge on the grille. JCB also had a similar vehicle although fitted with a sleeper/crew cab.

Just had a quick Google of CENTO and it seems it was an organisation similar to NATO set up between 1955 to 1979 to protect oil producing areas in the Middle East from Russian expansion into these areas. CENTO meaning Central Treaty Organisation and based in Ankara, Turkey, at the time this vehicle was produced. The vehicle does seem to be something an oil company would use, especially the wide four in line trailer. The UK and US and other middle east countries being part of this organisation. Cheers Franky.
